Summer thunderstorms in the desert southwest are an event.  Typically beginning with a dust storm, or haboob, that can bring visibility to near zero while towering up to tens of thousands of feet into the air, the foreboding of what is on the horizon is represented by the heavy and shifting drum sequences.  Lead riffs flutter and weave throughout the piece to match the environment when the storm finally reaches you.

Genre class for this track is difficult as it has many elements.  Composed during a scorching hot Arizona desert day - the music attempts to capture the lethargy imparted by being overheated and the buzzing and pressure in the ears represented by the highly distorted lead guitar.

This is an unfinished piece seeking feedback on the emotion of the music.  Inspired by the majestic mountains of Banff National Park - seemingly there forever.  The mood attempting to be captured is one of overwhelming scope - in time and beauty.  A twelve string guitar paired with synthetic strings provides mood - but that choice may change for a more natural string sound, or, perhaps, a more synthetic sound if it can amplify the mood.

Instrumental inspired by the beauty of a desert moon rise - the click track remains in the background not as an artifact for the soloing acoustic guitar, but as a constant reminder that the rise of the moon is limited in time and the experience is short-lived.

Up tempo instrumental inspired by the unique appearance of the Boojum Tree.  Guitar riffs are oddly shaped to match the odd shape of the plant.

This track is difficult to assign to a genre but triphop seems the closest fit.  This instrumental track incorporates a Native American flute sound with some forboding while laced with elements of beauty that those who protested at Standing Rock were protecting.  While this is not a protest song, it is a recognition of the struggle that the protestors endured.

As the title indicates, this track was a sad farewell to one of the most beautiful places on our planet.  The track is comprised of a monotonous droning short melody - the intent is to convey the emptiness and despair associated with the end of a wonderful experience while playing the best memories repeatedly in your mind.

Banff Farewell

This track conveys a bit more of a serene vibe.  It combines the inspiring view of a glacier and its water fall, with the sadness that comes from the knowledge that the great glaciers in this park are retreating with increasing pace - a foretelling of the costs associated with warmer climates.

Banff Beauty

This track is a bit of a higher energy chill piece - again, inspired by the beauty of Banff National Park.  This piece materialized while steeply climbing and descending switch backs while observing the natural beauty of this park.

Awe of Banff

This is a collection of electric and acoustic pieces composed from the desert of Arizona, but inspired by not only the Sonoran Desert but also the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and Canada.  Inspiration is based upon the importance of water in all of its forms and settings.  I hope you enjoy!
