Conheço a música de Jandek há cerca de 20 anos, desde o lançamento do documentário "Jandek on Corwood" e o meu interesse manteve-se ao longo dos anos, ora voltando a certas obras de que gosto, ora para conhecer o que Sterling Smith está fazendo recentemente. Fico feliz que ele ainda esteja por aí, aparecendo para algumas apresentações ao vivo ou novos trabalhos de estúdio, mas ainda mantendo sua privacidade e personalidade discreta.

E eu gravei esta música, "I'll Sit Alone And Think A Lot About You" (originalmente do álbum "On The Way" (1988)) não só por causa da minha apreciação de seu trabalho, mas também é uma canção que é perfeita para o meu momento pessoal na vida. Muitas vezes as despedidas não valem a pena, se ainda temos lembranças e lições para pensar. A letra é, de fato, universal. Meu arranjo de guitarra não é muito fiel ao original, mas a harmonia é a melhor aproximação que consegui decorar. O mesmo acontece com meus vocais, é apenas uma adaptação, não um cover.

I've been aware of Jandek's music for about 20 years, since the release of the documentary "Jandek on Corwood" and my interest has been kept with me throughout the years, sometimes returning to certain works I enjoy, other times to get to know what Sterling Smith's doing recently. I'm glad he's still around, showing up for some live performances or new studio works but still keeping his privacy and discreet persona. 

And I've recorded this song, "I'll Sit Alone And Think A Lot About You" (originally from the album "On The Way" (1988)) not only because of my appreciation of his work, but also it's a fitting song for my personal moment in life. Many times the goodbyes aren't worthy, if we still have memories and lessons to think about. The lyrics are, indeed, universal. My guitar arrangement isn't very faithful to the original, but the harmony is the best approximation I could learn by heart. Same goes with my vocals, it's just an adaptation, not a cover.

This is my tribute to the late great Daniel Johnston, who went on departure from this world in Sept. 11th, 2019. "The Story of an Artist" has always been one of my favorite songs in his opus, and I decided to have an adventure on its beautifully simple theme on piano and record it with my cellphone (such as Daniel recorded in a cassette player...). But, instead of singing, I interpreted it having in mind what the lyrics says and those are my feelings towards it. Daniel managed to express very intimate feelings with an universal touch... and he sung the voice of the unsung. Hope you enjoy.

In tribute to the genius of Mutantes, Arnaldo Baptista by the time he's completed 72 years old. There was virtual celebration in which I took part with a recording that, originally, came from his brilliant 1982 solo album, "Singin' Alone", which is "Bomba H em São Paulo". I made this version, which has the same original chords, but with an improvisational  detour. The audio here was remastered specially for this SoundCloud post.

My name is George Christian, I was born in August 10th, 1981, and my homeland is the city of Salvador, capital of Bahia, in Brazil. I'm a self-taught composer and a guitarrist with more than 10 years of experience. Even with not much formal instruction, I opted to be committed with my own discoveries in Art instead of being a musician in the entertainment field. I'm also a writer with five reasonably finished books of poem, however not published, and graduate in National and Foreign Languages (English) at Federal University of Bahia (UFBa). My essential aim in Music is to develop a compositional approach that encompasses not only popular but also the classical fields in an equanimity, and creates a synthesized universe of its own. The songwriting and the improvisations living side-by-side with electroacoustic studies and compositions with a larger structure, and working all the styles with a lyrical universalist philosophy. The musical message wants to restore the faith in humanity outside the chaos and overwhelming situations, even bringing back a sense of adventure, terror and reflection. And it surpasses the subtle autobiographical aspects to seek what is worth to be shared with the cosmos inside our hearts. It's not about any kind of musical devices or styles, but it's a meditation on life, death, ressurrection and eternity through the organization and impact of sounds. (written in February 25th, 2010)
