这是近二十年前制作的。《赶牲灵》是我非常喜欢的一首西北民歌，幽默，风趣，乡土气息浓郁。这个录音的亮点是加拿大歌手Steven Ambrose，当时请他录音时简单地把歌词大意给他解释了一下，驴，骡子，哥哥，妹妹的。他一下抓重点：驴。
这是最早尝试用中国民歌与西方流行音乐中西合璧的例子之一，CD由香港龙音出版社出版。

韶琴二胡现场版《梁祝》是2011年我在奥地利与格拉斯recreation交响乐团演出的实况录音。永恒的《梁祝》主题用韶琴二胡演绎自然流露民间韵味，全曲用韶琴演奏很好听，且别有风味。
韶琴二胡版对比高胡版《梁祝》，由于音域限制，高胡版不得不把主题部的低音部分交给乐队演奏，而用韶琴演奏有了低音，主题音域的对比可以全面描绘梁山伯和祝英台的形象。对比二胡版《梁祝》，也是因为一般二胡音域窄，高音出不来，为适应二胡演奏者的习惯，作曲家不得不牵强转调，大家一听就明白了。
我会陆续与大家分享把《梁祝》从小提琴移植到韶琴二胡过程中的一些妙用心得。

“二泉映月”三重奏，赵匡胤的宋琴

那是2009年，刚到北京，就收到陈雷激的SMS叫我和他联系。

打过电话后才知道除了想聚一聚以外，他想要录音。我犹犹豫豫的，因为时间实在太紧，和家人团聚也就两天。

他说：“天赐良机也，杜冲后天也要走，我手上有台赵匡胤御用的宋琴，我们把刘湲的二泉映月三重奏录一下多好，千载难逢！”

“我没拉过这版本…..”，我回答说，但心里好像已经产生了极大兴趣，和杜冲也已经十几年没见面了。

“没事儿，看着谱子再找感觉。”

“二胡怎么定弦？” 我问到，

“就比一般二胡定底一个大二度”，

“C-G？你肯定吗？你肯定不是二泉琴定音或是把二泉琴定底一个大二度？”，我问，心里盘算着怎么用我的QQ千斤二胡，

“是啦，来吧！”

我答应了。

第二天，我们一起饭后去雷激的工作室里喝了壶上好的台湾高山茶及普洱，逞着茶意，来到了录音棚。进了棚里，才知道这个录音棚是刚刚录完2008北京奥运会音乐的棚，Domingo, Sarah Brightman和其他大腕刚来过。录音师是年轻有为的陈雨黎。

我们都准备好了，麦克风也摆好了，等了一会儿，这主角赵匡胤的琴才由一位先生专门送来。很难形容哪琴的样子，一听声音，确是一把宝琴，响亮清丽，淳厚华贵，我不懂，可是我一听就喜欢。

我们合了一遍就开录了，第一遍录的不错，雷激提出要平淡点，要和一般的二泉不同，少点戏剧性，我当然愿意试试不同的感觉。第二遍后，我们几个都觉得很中听，就此，这个录音就诞生了。

我减去了许多戏剧性的处理，但也不愿因此而过于平淡，所以折中了一下。雷激和杜冲都非常精彩，哪把琴声音更是没话说。

Here is a beautiful arrangement for erhu and symphony orchestra by Mr. An Lun Huang, one of the most celebrated Chinese Canadian composers today. The melodies are based on transcription of four 1700 years old music manuscript discovered in Dun Huang City on silk road, all the notes are exact the same as the transcription, only the rhythm is composed.

纳西族住在地处云南西北，四川西南的喜马拉雅山脚。
虽然＂纳西＂这名字没有＂容纳西方＂的意思，但是这个无意中的巧合成为作曲家的灵感。
乐曲用地道的纳西风格旋律加花变奏，与美洲大陆的Reggae，爵士乐Stride风格交融，在整个过程中融入了许多现有的及高韶青新发明的二胡炫技演奏技巧，中段华尔兹舞节奏衬托的唯美旋律充满情调。

陆轶文与高韶青鼓励专业院校二胡学生及二胡爱好者学习演奏这首作品，但是在2014年10月29号前，任何商演，录音，录像《二胡随想曲第五号－纳西》必须经过约稿人陆轶文本人的同意。

George Gao “Erhu Capriccio No. 5 – Nakhi”
Dedicated to Lu Yi Wen
The Nakhi is an ethnic group inhabiting the foothills of the Himalayas in the northwestern part of Yunnan Province, as well as the southwestern part of Sichuan Province in China.
The name of Nakhi in Chinese coincides with the meaning of “include the west”, though it is totally a coincidence, George Gao is inspired.
To experiment with the idea “include the west” hidden by the name, the composition is based on variations of a Nakhi style melody which combine with reggae and stride from the Americas, through the process, George Gao showcases many stunning virtuosic, and newly invented techniques for the erhu. The melodies in the middle part is accompanied by dance like rhythmic patterns, it is beautiful and exotic.

Hailed as one of the most exciting, innovative and respected erhu masters today, the Gemini Award nominated erhu master George Gao began studying the erhu at the age of six, a few years later, he won First Prize at the Shanghai Junior Instrumental Soloist Competition and a Silver Medal at the China National Junior Instrumental Soloist Contest in 1982. In 1985, he swept the three highest prizes of the Beijing China National Invitational erhu Competition. In 1999, He won a Recognition Award for his appearance at the 13th World Festival for Young Students in Pyongyang, North Korea.

George Gao studied at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.

After winning the first prize in the Beijing National Erhu Competition, George Gao launched on a truly international performing career. He toured the US, Canada, France, Germany, Denmark, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China extensively and featured as a soloist with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Taiwan National Chinese Orchestra, National Arts Center Symphony Orchestra, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and I Musici etc. George Gao has also performed many recitals, including appearances at the Glenn Gould Studio, the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto), City Hall Concert Hall (Hong Kong), and the National Concert Hall (Taipei). Billions of people around the world have watched him on CCTV, China's most watched TV station.

George Gao is a hot session player, his erhu performance is frequently recorded by many world renowned composers, film, record producers. George is featured in the soundtrack for the popular science fiction television program Earth: Final Conflict, which has been nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music. George is also featured in the soundtrack for the short documentary film The Blood Of Yingzhou District, which won the Oscar for Documentary Short Subject in 2007.

An enthusiast of many musical styles, George organized the Beijing rock band Red Maple Leaf and the pop group Snowman. In Toronto, he collaborated with many world music artists including Jesse Cook, Donald Quan, Ron Korb and joined many world music ensembles such as Bowfire, Silk Orchestra, George Gao Ensemble and Memento. He has pioneered the development of new music for the erhu, fusing traditional Chinese music with jazz, Western Classical music, New Age, and other ethnic music from different world cultures.

As a composer, George Gao has composed music for many films and documentaries. He co-composed with Brian Keane for Bill Moyer's Productions/Lenon Documentary 3 part documentary film "Becoming American, the Chinese Experience". He is also a songwriter who has a few hit songs in China. He has written many erhu works including "Capriccio for Erhu", which was designated as compulsory work for the final round of the "2002 International Dragon Cup Erhu Competition" and "Erhu Capriccio No. 2 - Mongolian Fantasy", which was designated as compulsory work for the final round of the "2008 Shanghai Spring Festival International Erhu Competition".

As a guest professor of many post secondary institutions, George Gao frequently gives music master classes in prestiges music schools such as Shanghai Conservatory.
