Scott Ferguson delved into the House & Techno scene in Detroit, Michigan in 1994, transitioning into DJing and exploring various vinyl records encompassing Detroit & Chicago House, Detroit Techno, Disco, & Funk. In 1998, he embraced the Ensoniq ASR-10, integral to his sample-heavy, filtered sound. Ferguson's debut 12" surfaced in 2001 under his own label, alongside releases on 'Mahogani Music' and 'Psychostatia Recordings'. In 2012, he initiated two new projects: the minimalist 'Black Boxx' utilizing three black hardware boxes, and JBSF with Jitterbug. His productions have garnered acclaim from iconic DJs such as Derrick May, Larry Heard, and Moodymann. Presently, Ferrispark Records continues to produce and distribute vinyl, while Ferguson continues his global DJ ventures.

For the latest episode of the Warning Mix Series we invited Yoav Goldman who delivered a lovely recording, bringing together different shades of house music. A balanced melange of stomping kicks, dreamy pads and uplifting rhythms and rave bits. Yoav is a resident DJ at Motivio Positivo, a Berlin and Tel Aviv based music collective.

It's a sunny day, late March. You're smiling. Maybe it's because it's Saturday, you don't have to think about work, and there's an empty glass of lager on the counter in front of you. Or in your memory suddenly arose a picture from your childhood: you are driving your father's old car out of town for the first kebabs, in the trunk rattles disassembled brazier, and you anticipate how you will pedal along the paths of the dacha cooperative on an old "Desna". What? Do you really remember how beautiful looked in the sunset sunlight slightly disheveled hair of that very man (you are still shy and do not admit anything), while you went out for a smoke for five minutes? Or maybe there's a 5/8 broadcast playing in your headphones right now: radio from the Accidental Point space? Yeah, probably the latter.

Went in a bit too deep with this, spent hours tweaking the loop before finding the power to record it. Cut the jam short and it still came out at 15 minutes. Building a nice catalogue of these live recordings, feels like I'm getting some nice results. Will have to get some of these online soon if I can get a few more of this standard.

Live recording of a dj-set played at Belgium's infamous Decadance club in Ghent. House music, all vinyl. Tracks by Gemini, Mind Games (20:20 Vision), Brett Johnson, MAW, Matt John (Perlon), Trackheadz, JT Donaldson, Cheek (aka Gilb'r), MK, Justin Martin, Gene Fariss and many, many more.

I recently stumbled upon this 17 year old dj-set on an old HD and thought I'd share it here as I thought it still sounded fresh and genuine.
Recorded live at Belgium's infamous Decadance club in Ghent on March 24th 2007, here's nearly two hours of various shades of bumpin' house music. Vinyl only - this is what I sounded like in those days, and some of these records I still hold dear and play today.

Decadence was a very special place. The club opened at 10pm Saturday night and wouldn't close until Sunday afternoon. We spent countless beautiful nights and extended mornings there, blissfully dancing together with friends and strangers.

They'd have lots of amazing international guests week after week, from the US (Derrick Carter, Lance Desardi), UK (Inland Knights) and more, but also had lots of incredible resident djs. My home town is Leuven, a 1 hour train ride from Ghent, and we would regularly make the trek. The house and techno scene in those days was strong all over Flanders: Leuven, Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp and even most smaller towns had great club nights happening. (And then I'm not even talking about our trips to Wallonia, but that's a whole different story.)

With my LAYER mix, I wanted to manifest this and specifically chose music that I've played in warm-up sets over the last few years. Dominik André is an active force in the Zurich music scene – as a DJ and with his genre-busting label Subject To Restrictions Discs. He is known for his unconventional selection and for creating deep and transcendent as well as ecstatic moments on dancefloors of Festivals and Clubs.

A decade on, a wide-scope vision has crystallized that blurs the lines of dance music. Always attracted by the weird and the unknown, Dominik André blends quirky techno with mutant trance, always immersed in a Wave and post-punk-inspired aesthetic.

As former resident at Club Zukunft, now regularly seen at Kauz Club, Kasheme and Stereo in his hometown of Zurich, he also got recognised outside the city. This has taken him to clubs such as Motel Campo in Geneva, Arkaoda in Istanbul, Astron in Athens, Klub Kegelbahn in Lucerne and to festivals like Am Bach, Lethargy, Electrosanne or Montreux Jazz.

He also shares his broad musical understanding on radio stations around the world. He currently hosts the monthly radio show Murky Rhythms Collide on Radio Raheem in Milan and has made guest appearances on radio stations including Rinse FM in London, Kiosk Radio in Brussels and the much-missed Red Light Radio in Amsterdam.

Besides his DJ career, Dominik André has a reputation for learning about and documenting electronic music and its scenes as a journalist and publicist. When he's not DJing, he takes care of the creative and administrative direction of his label Subject To Restrictions Discs. With more than 20 releases the label has established itself internationally as a place for 80s- and 90s-influenced music with cross-genre aspirations.

What a dream team playing with @talkless & @bandolier at that last outting. Love the whole dynamic of genre juggling, BPM contrasts and just playing records for the moment, makes it really feel like you’re playing in the gaff which is the whole idea I’m going for.

Think I ruined the all vinyl streak after 3 hours with a Spirit In The Sky edit and a sax remix of Gimme Gimme but hats off to the troops for keeping it wax only !

If you’re expecting flawless mixing go listen else where but if you want a well curated blend of musical cultures, styles and all round great tunes then give it a listen 👂🏼
