In the summer of 2014 I went on tour with a collective of Bristol-based folk musicians under the name of Orkney Cavalcade. As that title suggests, we spent time playing music on Orkney, then slowly meandered back down through the UK playing gigs here and there along the way. This track is taken from a radio session we recorded on vintage reel-to-reel equipment in a nuclear bunker in Norwich.

Joni Mitchell’s high school English teacher said to her, ‘if you can paint with a brush you can paint with words’... to me it feels like that too. Singer-songwriter and painter. The tracks here are variously from my EP, which a good friend recorded for me in his living room on reel-to-reel, recordings from a session I did with a group of musician friends whilst on tour to the Orkney Islands, for an analogue radio station which broadcasts from an historic nuclear bunker, and some very rough recordings I’ve made with my phone or basic equipment that’s been available to me. All are pretty raw with minimal or no mastering; honesty is something that appeals to me enormously, in music and the visual arts.
