It’s a fresh year and it’s time for the debut release from two awesome Sydney acts putting their own spin on Melbourne Bounce, George Gurdjieff and the Mint Dealers. This bangin’ release on the one and only Preston Records, is coming out on February 9th. Mastered by industry standard sound engineer Klaus ‘Heavyweight’ Hill, who has mastered tracks by artists like SCNDL, Uberjak’d and more. There are many great elements to this track, an amazing chord progression which really bursts out in the second breakdown, following the traditional progressive house school of thought beginning the phrase on the major 6th chord. This allows the track to move through its elements progressively while not losing its electric appeal. The first drop is a further exploration of the melody introduced in the first breakdown, removing some elements of the rhythm and substituting them with the Melbourne off-beat bassline. The second drop gives no room for relaxation, as the buildup begins immediately following the end of the first. The last buildup is extended to 16 bars to again play with the anticipation and expectation response of the crowd, it builds to silence and the snares beat to bring in the final drop. This drop moves through varying synths of similar yet not identical design to give the feeling of a constantly moving soundscape. This track is sure to make dancefloors go crazy, and get that always oh so good collective ‘OH!’. Make sure you keep an eye out on these two Sydney producers, as the year of 2015 is sure to be the year for George Gurdjieff and The Mint Dealers.
