Another pristine, carefully made recording, filled with detailed delights.

I really like this part where the slower, lower call comes in from much closer. Really feels like being directly in an untamed rainforest, not like a kind of "sound tapestry" a few hundred metres in the distance.

Nightingale (Luscinia megarhynchos)

A pair of juvenile Long-Eared Owls calling out from the top of a tall pine tree along the Plateau De Montselgues in Ardeche. This was recorded at approximately 22h00 on a windy mid-May evening.

Juvenile Long-Eared Owls - Plateau De Montselgues, Ardeche, France

The picture is in the same place this morning when I recorded the soundscape. The river is Emajõgi (Mother river). The river connects the two largest lakes of Estonia, Lake Võrtsjärv and Lake Peipus and is the second largest river in Estonia by discharge and the only fully navigable river. The banks of the Emajõgi provide habitat for very different species including Great Reed Warbler.

This track features the haunting vocalizations of the Common Loon. The ambient "roar" you'll hear is the sound of gentle night breezes swishing through the treetops of large Red Pines nearby. (One critical listener calls this element "sublime.") Recorded late May, 2008. Skies were mostly clear; winds were light and variable; temp. was in the low 50s (F).

Just off the road to Alofi is the Kalaone seatrack, on my morning walk I noted this location and came back when the tide was at it's lowest point.

Predawn in the damp highland forest of the Leuser ecosystem, elivation about  1500m. Recorded near lake Marpunga in the Aceh of regeon Sumatra.

April 20, 2019. The recording begins at 7.37 in the morning. I really like diversity of birds in Matsalu but recording is somewhat difficult because there are no natural obstacles (thick forest or mountains) to preventing noise from the roads. It's not technically pure clean recording. It's a sketch, the groundwork, note in my audio notebook.

Borneo Rainforest - Morning At The Pond

I recorded this track in the spring of 2018 at the Douglas State Forest in Massachusetts, USA. My specific location within the forest was the Atlantic White Cedar Swamp. With very dense trees and a thick carpet of sphagnum moss, this area is naturally sound-proofed.

This area gets a lot of aircraft traffic and I was lucky to capture this 6 minute recording. I did not use any rain protection over my binaural recording rig so there are some rain drops that are quite loud as they fall directly on my setup.
