Transforming music is not something i have done before so this was a new experience. I first started off with changing the instruments. To me that was the key way for my Ode to Joy remix to sound good. I really tried to find instruments that worked well and created a sound that was soothing to the ears. The instruments i chose were: 6 string guitar, 2 brass, glass flute, full orchestra, Christmas bells, piano and strings-fade, bassoon, french horn, and the Irish whistle. I think that the glass flute, which was the sound for the melody, really pulled the whole remix together. So that is what i did first. In my remix i wanted to have different layers so at certain points in the song i would make it so that there was only one layer, and then other parts make it with 4 or 5 layers. At the end because my remix has a soothing sound to it i made it fade out because fading out really fit the style of my remix which was soothing and relaxing. As well as fading out, i also slowed down the tempo. I slowed it down throughout the song and towards the end i slowed it down even more. At different points of the remix i felt that it would sound better if certain sounds were louder and some softer so i changed that as well. All in all, remixing Ode to Joy was a great experience and i had fun doing it. I am very happy with all the changes i made in the song because it resulted in me loving the final product.

For my composition my code was based on the F scale. I chose to use this because i wanted to be different and not use the standard scale C and D. I knew what my first section was going to be like so i tried it out with the different scales and liked the F scale the most. My code is f g a b c d e f a b. my A section was based on Pi because i did 3.145 repeated and then backwards. At the end of the A section i only did 3.14 and then repeated that backwards. For the B section i did 3.1459265. I chose to use 3 instruments because Pi is usually referred to as 3.14 which is 3 numbers. I chose to use the piano as the main instrument because I thought it would sound the best when coming together with other instruments. I used the flute for when i did the high bits of the section and the Baritone Saxophone when doing the low bits. I first set the tempo as MM=90 but then as i listened to it it was too slow as i had so many quarter notes. I decided to change it to MM=120 to give it a faster more upbeat feel. The upbeat feel is the reason why i called it Pi Race. At first i thought that creating a piece based on Pi was going to be really hard and boring but i actually ended up really enjoying it. Overall i really enjoyed using a c.ode for creating my composition because it made it easier to create patterns. I also think that using Sibelius this time was easier and a lot more enjoyable because i knew how everything worked.

Georgia's 1st song attempt

The elements of music such as the melody, timbre, harmony and texture really influenced my piece. In my composition the melody was really important.. I feel like I had a really solid melody that people would want to listen to. For the instruments I picked  5 different types. I was sure to make sure that the instruments fit together well to create a peaceful sound. It took a while to get just the right instruments but it was worth it. The texture is something I really struggled on. I am really a person of no change so in the end my way of creating texture was by adding different instruments. Now the harmony was also something i was very stubborn with but again I was able to use the different instruments to create harmony so that my composition would not be boring. In my piece one of the main ways i created contrast was by changing the tempo. For the A sections i chose for it to be a fast tempo at 110 and for the B section i chose for it to be a slower tempo at 95 so that you could enjoy the melody. For the form in my piece i did ABA. I think that way people wouldn't get bored of hearing the same thing over and over again. The B section I chose not to repeat in the overall piece because i had a melodic repetition within it. The repetition within the section is one of the reasons i loved that section so much. I chose to use tempo markings in my pieces which impacted the expression of my composition. The dynamics as well as the markings really created that peaceful sound. I think that the Wordle influenced my piece more than i think it did. Firstly because it helped me think of a title. Secondly, it gave me the basic rhythm to my piece. I think that Sibelius is an amazing program and i really cannot think of any challenges it made me face.
