Some say the bodhrán is the heartbeat of Irish music. Made from goatskin and treated with a traditional process, it is played with a "tipper" or beater hitting the skin in a swift style, while a hand presses the back of the skin to vary the tone. Bodhrán beat at a traditional Irish music session

After a long break, a couple more tunes - two reels this time, played on a 2013 Weber Gallatin 'A' mandolin.
The first tune was recorded by Kevin Burke and Jackie Daly on their classic album "Eavesdropper". "Andy McGann's" is the name they gave it, though it was possibly written by John McGrath (1900-1955), a fiddle player from Mayo. McGrath emigrated to the US in the 1920s; he wrote many tunes.
The second tune I think I first heard played by Siobhan Peoples at a session in Clare some years ago. It's also known as 'The Creel of Perches', which makes more sense. If I had perches I wouldn't put them in a crib.

Nous vous proposons cette dizaine de morceaux que vous pouvez travailler - 4 jigs, 4 reels, un hornpipe et une slip jig (certains sont issus de l'atelier de fiddle de Ciara Brenna de CCAC 2011). Nous pourrons jouer ces morceaux en plus des morceaux de votre répertoire que vous apporterez.
