Fràgil (Fragile) | String quartet and electronics

Drifts of Blue is based on the photography series Estelles d'arbre (Tree splinters) by Clara Gassull Quer. These are monochrome photographs (different shades of blue), taken using the cyanotype technique. They collect the light projected through the trees on a light-sensitive paper during long exposure times. The result is a visual representation where much of the figurative origin has been lost and where new abstract forms appear. The images in the series suggest movement, stasis, depth, lightness, and at the same time contain the trace of the original temporality. The sensations and ideas conveyed by these photographs have been the source of inspiration behind this work.

Drifts of Blue té com a punt de partida les fotografies de la sèrie Estelles d'arbre de Clara Gassull Quer. Es tracta de fotografies monocromes (diferents tons de blau), fetes amb la tècnica de la cianotípia. Recullen la llum que projecten els arbres sobre el paper sensible durant temps llargs d’exposició. El resultat és una representació visual on s'ha perdut gran part de l'origen figuratiu i on apareixen noves formes abstractes. Les imatges de la sèrie suggereixen moviment, estaticisme, profunditat, lleugeresa, i alhora contenen el rastre de la temporalitat original. Les sensacions i idees que transmeten aquestes fotografies han sigut la font d'inspiració de l'obra.
