Gerard Lebik and Burkhard Beins create musical forms of minimalist idiom, which consist of isolated sound events as well as gradually revealing harmonies and resonances. Metallic sounds from a large heavy cymbal are amplified and blend with electronically generated sine waves of varying amplitude, unfolding in a continuous glissando. An Alphabet Of Fluctuation is the evidence of how both artists rethink their approach towards deep reduction. One can see here a great sensitivity in determining the means of expression and formal concepts.

The artists do not shape the pieces into dynamic structures with a linear course but strive to achieve a specific effect of micro-flickering of sound – an illusion of suspension of time. These recordings should be considered as an environment, involving the listener to intensify perceptual activity. During their realization, an attempt was made to use the natural properties of space in the most nuanced way possible, treating the set of speakers as additional instruments. The experiments with sound directivity and density used here are aimed at creating specific acoustic machinery.

The sound gestures used for this performance were recorded in two different parts of the world, Ryoko Akama worked with sound objects in his studio in Huddersfield, UK, while Gerard Lebik recorded his sound interventions in Jambami, Tanzania during residency at the Pamoja Zanzibar Festival. Video work is a sonic reflection on the eternal and unchanging nature of being. The ancient Greeks argued that the structure of cosmic and human life was inhabited by the spirits of two worlds, waging a mortal battle with each other. This fight is so powerful and so vast that we have no way of predicting its outcome. The growing spirit is the spirit of civilization - it constantly strives to create forms in which life can expand, create and secure itself. On the other hand, the burning spirit seeks life in motion, and change, but also in a battle of conflict and violence. Both forces are part of the natural order. War and peace, preservation and destruction, constructive evolution and destructive revolution are all part of nature.

Ryoko Akama is a sound artist/composer/performer, who approaches minimalistic compositions that magnify silence, time, and space and offer quiet temporal/spatial experiences. Her works examine delicate and fragile objects such as paper balloons and glass bottles, creating tiny occurrences that embody ‘almost nothing’ aesthetics. She runs melange edition label, amespace and co-edits mumei publishing.

AER – Compressed Air Sound Performance- explores the potential of compressed air as a source of an acoustic sound wave that generates pure white noise. The phenomenon of centrifugal force generated during the air recoil sets the objects in a rotating motion, transforming the acoustic white noise generator into an ambisonic sound object defining the acoustic space of the architecture of the room in which the performance takes place.

AER  Compressed Air Sound Performance -  Hutman Hall

FOTON group came into existence as a result of a monochromatic heliography process. The appliance of this process on an acoustic jazz and free improvisation quartet playing original improvised music lead to creating a new  conception of sound and form granting equal rights to both improvisations and permanent elements of composition.
Group  in it's actual shape appeared  in 2008 performing mostly on local jazz scene of Wrocław, Poland and comprises tenor saxophone and contra alto clarinet player Gerard Lebik known for his work with Slug Duo and Emerge, trumpeter Artur Majewski working with duo Mikrokolektyw, bassist Jakub Cywinski being active in a circle of improvised and classical music in London and one of the finest polish drummers of young generation, native of city Bygdoszcz - Wojciech Romanowski.
Their record debut "Zomo Hall" picturizes  Wroclaw's improvised and jazz music scene where all members of the group meet in various music setups.The album released by NotTwo Records has been enthusiastically reviewed by critics around the globe.

The meeting of the musicians from „ERASE” band took place in the University of Music in Wroclaw in 2005. Seeking for common aesthetic and conceptive patterns bore fruit in arising of the duet: Michał Trela – drums and Gerard Lebik – saxophone. They realized that the idea of their music based on linear saxophone patterns and polyrhythm deriving from free jazz tradition can be expanded to achieve the completeness of the sound. Thus, the appearance of the third member of the band, double bass – Jakub Cywiński, raised on the modern classical music and infatuated with stable grooves joined with neo-bop walkings led to full crystallization of the assumptions of the „ERASE” which are bound up with the combination of the rhythmical layer and improvisation of the free jazz conception, along with the modern classical music conception of melody and form.

Alteration in the intensity and light saturation, and the magnetic field fluctuation on tapes old video cassettes gives micro changes in the sound captured from video recorders. To create the visual space used a set of VHS recorders and analog monitoring system using infrared cameras and televisions kinescope feedback, controlled by the frequency of the pure acoustic waves generated by the generators Zopan KZ 1406. 
Adaptation of analog devices enables control of the image using the acoustic waves, and control of sound using the analog video interference. The result is a visible and audible feedback of analog video and audio.

Venn Circle Quartet Damasiewicz/Lebik.  This is a part of Kevin Le Gendre's (BBC Radio 3, Jazzwise) review for Polish Cultural Institute in London.
A desire to experiment and walk on the tight rope of adventure if not risk may have loosely recalled some of the bold forays into the avant-garde of one of Ornette’s most simpatico partners, Don Cherry, but on the strength of this performance Damasiewicz fits into a lineage of brass players who are as intent on stretching the timbral possibilities of their instrument as they are flouting compositional convention. Hence echoes of Wadada Leo Smith, Arve Henriksen and Nate Wooley were all heard at various points in one continuous suite that hinged on the ability of an unusually configured quintet – two double basses, drums, tenor saxophone/electronics – to stitch together a patchwork of sound in which the tiniest threads of ideas were woven around ever alert minds. Damasiewicz’s input varied from circular rhythmic lines so soft that they were more breath than tone to blustery whole notes that were almost gothic baroque, while the squelches and slides of bass and discreet scrapes of timpani sticks on the drums made unsettled and unsettling purrs and growls that reinforced the general impression of a restless, unpredictable fauna. From behind the glow of the all too familiar bitten apple of his laptop, Gerard Lebik contributed much electronic snarl and snap, though his most arresting texture was created by two transistor radios producing a kind of rabid Greek chorus in tin can stereo. But things became too static thereafter. The natural build of tension called for a release that the players could not find and draught upon draught of studied noise induced a visible unease among some members of the audience waiting for the group to move on to new terrain. Whistles, sticks and shots of assorted percussion from Damasiewicz started to slowly unlock a new energy source which began to flow when he raised his head and played a series of harsh, open notes that galvanized the whole band. It was Cuong Vu in guerilla stance. The shift from his previous seated position to a standing one altered the entire mood of the set. With this final passage of the performance taking a more aggressive, almost industrial rock direction Damasiewicz displayed a degree of versatility and a sense of dynamics that were impressively mature. The kind of spontaneous invention that blurs the line between composition and improvisation is notoriously hard to get right, but he seems more than up to the task. It is definitely worth keeping an eye on his future development.

... was born in 1963 in Japan.
Since 1980, started to play his own music. He studied  electrical engineering in  university. His first job was an editor of  a music magazine that specializes in progressive rock. After that, he was working as a sound engineer, and he sometimes played drums with diffrent bands.
In 2006, SAWADA played drums as a member of  a psychedelic rock band. Since that time, he sometimes play in Europe.
He started solo performance "snare drum solo" since September 2011. Its music has received strong influence mostly from traditional folk music and minimalism.

Pixel Klange is a premiere hybrid arts co-production of the Wrocław festival Avant Art and the Dortmund organisation Mex – intermediale und experimentelle Musikprojekte and Gerngesehen from Koln. This is a co-operation ( of composers, performers and musicians focused around the Koln-based scene of sound art, experimental music and theatre with the Polish circle of musicians creating in the broadly understood idiom of contemporary and improvised music. The expanded vocal and performative techniques used by the performer Betina Wenzel, the language of movement and modern performance of the duo „cri du coeur“, led by Fina Kwiatkowski and Willehad Grafenhorst, sound objects and art of hans w koch, modular synthesis, circuit-bending and synth-design in MAX/MSP of Joker Nies, wind instruments, saxophone and wave generators of Gerard Lebik, self-prepared piano and trumpet of Piotr Damasiewicz, symphonic percussion instruments from the idiophone group used by Wojtek Romanowski – it all are components, sound sources and techniques used in the intermedial searches of the unpredictability on all planes of a composition, being created as part of the first encounter of artists at this year’s Avant Art Festival.

The meeting musicians took place in January this year in Lisbon. Music recorded during the recording sessions in the catacombs of the building at Av. da Liberdade, 211 will be released on vinyl in Bocian Records .

'Anime Pezzentelle' is a durational drone exploration by legendary underground Portuguese figure David Maranha and Polish composer, Gerard Lebik. Recorded in Cave 211, Lisbon in mid-january 2014, it breaks down two extended drone works coalescing Maranha's electric organ and Lebik's pure data processing and "objects" is subtly morphing arrangements paying particular attention to plangent harmonic patinas.

Miguel A. García (aka Xedh) from the Basque country, is one of the most dynamic sound artists in the Spanish scene. His work focuses mainly on the composition and electro-acoustic improvisation. He uses sounds taken from electronic devices residues, often interrelated with field recordings or acoustic instruments, in the search of an intimate, intense and immersive experience. A music of adventurous forms, full of contrasts and having nevertheless a sense of humor. His background comprises fine arts and audiovisual technology, having created projects such as Válvula Antirretorno, Baba Llaga or Mubles, questioning the borders between electro-acoustic academic music, industrial music and the so called outsider music.
With his solo project, he has participated in experimental music festivals all over Spain, as Ertz (Navarra), Experimentaclub (Madrid), Lem (Barcelona), Mem (Bilbao) or Sonikas (Vallecas), and he has played in diverse scenarios such as Auditorio Nacional de Música (Madrid), or museums such as Artium (Vitoria), Guggenheim (Bilbao), Macuf (A Coruña) or Vostell Malpartida (Cáceres). Outside Spain, he has played in festivals in Germany, Belgium, USA, France, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Portugal. His work has been released worldwide by labels as Copy for your records (USA), Homophoni (USA), Pilgrim Talk (USA), Slaughter Recs (Italy), Trait Central (USA), Triple Bath (Greece), Zeromoon (USA), or White Line (UK).
Still a young member of the international free improvisation scene, he works regularly with Tomas Grís, Oier I.A., Xabier Lopez, Oscar Martin (Noish), Seijiro Murayama, Hector Rey or Artur Vidal. He has collaborated with arists such Lali Barriere, Heddy Boubaker, Alexander Bruck, Coeval, Raul Dominguez, Richard Kamerman, Wade Matthews, Jorge Nuñez, Carlos Suarez, Rinus Van Alebeek or Valentina Vuksic, and bands like Cooloola Monster, Gora Japon, maDam or Hamburguesa Vegetal. As a promoter, amongst other projects, is the founder of the Club Le Larraskito and director of the Zarata Fest, both platforms in Bilbao and dedicated to the broadcast of challenging music.

Keith Rowe (born March 16, 1940 in Plymouth, England) is an English free improvisation tabletop guitarist and painter. Rowe is a founding member of both the hugely influential AMM in the mid-1960s (though in 2004 he quit that group for the second time) and M.I.M.E.O. Having trained as a visual artist, Rowe’s paintings have been featured on most of his own albums. After years of obscurity, Rowe has achieved a level of relative notoriety, and since the late 1990s has kept up a busy recording and touring schedule. He is seen as a godfather of EAI (electroacoustic improvisation), with many of his recent recordings having been released by Erstwhile Records.

The perception of sound in any organism is limited to a certain range of frequencies. For humans, hearing is normally limited to frequencies between about 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz (20 kHz)[3], although these limits are not definite. The upper limit generally decreases with age. Other species have a different range of hearing. For example, dogs can perceive vibrations higher than 20 kHz, but are deaf to anything below 40 Hz. As a signal perceived by one of the major senses, sound is used by many species for detecting danger, navigation, predation, and communication. Earth's atmosphere, water, and virtually any physical phenomenon, such as fire, rain, wind, surf, or earthquake, produces (and is characterized by) its unique sounds. Many species, such as frogs, birds, marine and terrestrial mammals, have also developed special organs to produce sound. In some species, these produce song and speech. Furthermore, humans have developed culture and technology (such as music, telephone and radio) that allows them to generate, record, transmit, and broadcast sound. The scientific study of human sound perception is known as psychoacoustics.

Art Meetings are multicultural gatherings taking place in various countries in Central-Eastern Europe. Their aim is to propagate and promote independent culture and to initiate international cultural cooperation.
Art Meetings include live shows played by interesting, unique bands, artistic workshops, happenings, expositions, and other events engaging the local communities. To organize these undertakings, artists, journalists, managers, animators, and various institution representatives from all over the world are invited. This creates opportunities for mutual inspiration, as well as for initiating artistic cooperation. 
Art Meetings, besides artistic events, involve organizing the international Share the Culture networking forum – a series of discussions, meetings, and lectures by experts from various countries. Their aim is to popularize cultural and social cooperation on an international scale, draw attention to the resulting opportunities and benefits, facilitate the exchange of experiences and ideas, help foster mutually beneficial, innovative solutions and put them to use in international social-cultural cooperation strategies. 
The event is financed from the funds of The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Polish Institute in Kiev, and individual donations from the project's supporters worldwide. Zopan Sinus Infection - Research of dependence between pure tones and generated sound, referring to first experiments with conversion of electric waves to audible sounds.
Audible range of the waves emitted by Multifunction Generator - ZOPAN KZ 1406 0.0005 Hz-100 kHz, produced in the 80's by the "Polish Institute of Scientific Equipment" - ZOPAN, are used to "sine infection" in define space.

Palimpsestem do "Mogłoby się zacząć gdziekolwiek" Mateja Franka jest ustalona metoda matematyczna tj.losowe przyporządkowanie częstotliwości pojedyńczym falom sinusoidalnym w zakresie od 38.1890 - 8569.7869 Hz dla poszczególnych wylosowanych parametrów (ulice Wrocławia). Każda wylosowana sekwencja trzech parametrów  daje współbrzmienie trzech tonów w akordach systemu mikrotonowego. Czas pojawiających się kolejno po sobie poszczególnych tryptyków/akordów  będzie determinowany z jednej strony samą ich ilość(49), a z drugiej moją intuicją  w używaniu narzędzia ppooll sinE MaxMSP. Przejście z jednej struktury (A123) do drugiej (B123) jest płynne, a czas jaki musi pokonać każda z fal jest identyczny; z uwagi na różne odległości pomiędzy wylosowanymi częstotliwościami, prędkość z jaką będzie poruszała się fala przechodząca z punktu A123 do punktu B123 będzie algorytmicznie dostosowana do zaprogramowanego i narzuconego rezultatu, czyli spotkania jednoczesnego trzech stałych w jednym czasie-punkcie. 

Podążając za Gostomskim który mówi:„Założeniem mojej pracy jest jej stały i nieskończony, równomiernie we wszystkich kierunkach postępujący rozwój, który obejmować będzie swym zasięgiem coraz to dalsze (w stosunku do punktu wyjściowego) obszary”, postanowiłem stworzyć robota generującego nieskończoną liczbę wariantów palimpsestu partytury Franka używającego sekwencji z utworu Johna Cage'a "Walce".

Zegar generujący będzie działał jako program-aplikacja w internecie i będzie zsynchronizowany z UTC±00:00. Procedura wylosowania 49x3 zestawów częstotliwości będzie następowała w cyklu co 147 godziny. W cym cyklu czasowym program generator wylosuje 49x3 sekwencje częstotliwości i ułoży je kolejno w czasie uwzględniając również losowy parametr czasu dla odcinków pomiędzy nimi, tworząc za każdym razem nową kompozycje. Kwestię poszerzania obszaru zasięgu rozwiąże kolejny program generator losujący na mapie google miasta, w których liczba ulic przekracza 147, aby następnie wylosować w nich nowe zestawy ulic 49X3 łącząc je z częstotliwościami wylosowanymi przez zegar pierwszy, odpowiedzialny za przyporządkowywanie częstotliwości.  


Do roku 2043 maszyna wylosuję 1370 wariantów kompozycji.

"Walce poszły w świat"  Utwór generatywny w czasie (2020-2043) OVERINTERPRETATIONS

Gerard Lebik is a composer/improviser, saxophonist, sound artist, and curator active in experimental music and sound art—founder of the Sanatorium of Sound Festival and the Sokołowsko Music Lab. Lebik explores heterogeneous sound sources and music genres such as electro-acoustic composition/improvisation, live electronics, and noise, focusing on themes like the perception and propagation of sound waves, time disorder, psychoacoustics, and sound’s relationship with architecture and urban contexts. His outputs—performances, installations, and sound interventions—are based on sine waves, white noise, feedback, ambisonics, and multi-channel sound. He graduated from the Academy of Music in Wrocław.

Lebik has performed at festivals and venues, including TPAM (Yokohama, JP), Rewire (The Hague, NL), CTM (Berlin, DE), Fiber Festival (Amsterdam, NL), TodaysArt Festival (The Hague, NL), MONOM (Berlin, DE), Biennale (Zagreb, HU), Tokyo Jazz (Tokyo, JP), Umbrella (Chicago, US), Experimental Intermedia (New York, US), Biennale Wro (Wrocław, PL), SuperDeluxe (Tokyo, JP), and Fylkingen (Stockholm, SE).

He has collaborated with numerous artists, including Keith Rowe, Phil Minton, Ryoko Akama, Burkhard Beins, Paul Lovens, David Maranha, Peter Rehberg, Jérôme Noetinger, Zbigniew Karkowski, Kasper T. Toeplitz, Noid, Lucio Capece, Kazuhisa Uchihashi, Aleksandra Słyż, Judith Hamann, and many others
