A very minimal tune: Voice, drums, bass and piano.
The singer is the wonderful Vera Hall from Alabama in the south of the US. This recording has been taken about 1930 by an ethnologist, John Avery Lomax, for the library of congress.
The piano was treated with the "Raum" plugin to shape the reverb.

I have no idea what these words mean although I had Latin at school, but there was too much echo, but the sound was very beautiful.
I have recorded this myself and I publish it under a Creative Commons license.

I made heavy use of NI's excellent reverb plug in "Raum" to sculpt the voice spaces.

There is a short story by Herman Melville called "Bartleby the scrivener". In the story the main character is refusing to do any work, saying: "I would prefer not to", without explaining why.
Made on Maschine MK 3, using Blocks.

I would rather not

Music is for the ears like paintings are for the eyes.
Something abstract, not necessarily pretty, but hopefully moving.
I try to combine music from different cultures and backgrounds to create something new.
The emphasis is on electronic instruments, since they have the biggest variety of possible sounds, but in most tracks there is at least one acoustic instrument that I played myself and recorded manually; acoustic piano, guitar, melodica, bass, keyboards.
Nothing surpasses the beauty of acoustic instruments, it's just that I can't play most of them :-)
