Text of the ḥadīth:

عن أبي مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَسَنِ بنِ عليِّ بنِ أبي طالِبٍ، سِبْطِ رسولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ورَيْحانَتِهِ رَضِي اللهُ عَنْهُما قالَ: حَفِظْتُ مِنْ رسولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "دَعْ مَا يَرِيبُكَ إِلَى مَا لاَ يَرِيبُكَ. رواهُ التِّرمذيُّ والنَّسائِيُّ، وقالَ التِّرمذيُّ: حديثٌ حسَنٌ صحيحٌ.

From Abū Muḥammad al-Ḥasan b. ‘Alī b. Abī Ṭālib, the grandson of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and his sweet fragrance  (رضى الله عنه) who said, “I memorised from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, ‘Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt.’” [Related by Tirmidhī and an-Nasāʾī]

[14/11/2025] The Bequest of the Lion of Sunnah Al-'Allāmah Rabee' Al-Madkhalī (Raḥimahullāh) - By Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Lesson at Masjid As-Sunnah An-Nabawiyyah, Aston, Birmingham, UK.

Some points discussed during this lesson:

- The great concern Shaykh Rabī’ had for this ummah.

- His first wasiyah (bequest), the year it was written, and who he addressed it to. 

- Fearing Allāh and holding firmly to the Rope of Allāh.

- Proof that the Shaykh desired unity and only wanted good for this ummah, despite being relentlessly disparaged and attacked.

- Adhering to the manhaj of the Salaf as-Sālih in all aspects of Islām and life. 

- His firm adherence to the truth without compromising. 

- Cooperating upon righteousness and piety and defending the oppressed, regardless of who the oppressor is.

- Giving importance to jihād in the path of Allāh and striving to elevate Tawhīd. 

- How innovation and misguidance have corrupted the Muslims and brought about weakness and humiliation for the ummah.

- Guiding those who have erred back to the Book of Allāh (سبحانه وتعالى), Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ and understanding of the rightly guided caliphs and imāms. 

- His second wasiyah, the year it was written, and who the Shaykh requested to write and spread it.

- Fearing Allāh as He should be feared, collectively holding fast to the Rope of Allāh and not dividing.

- Wherein lies happiness in this life and the hereafter.

- The outcome of division and discord.

- The only means of attaining unity.

- Judging ourselves by what we learned from our Shaykh. 

- The necessity of sincerity and truthfulness.

- Exerting effort in reforming and rectifying the state of the Muslims. 

- Following the example of Shaykh Rabī’ in being humble, truthful and not wanting the dunyā or position. 

- Servicing and calling to the Qur’ān and Sunnah, not ourselves.

- The humility of the major scholars. 

- The Shaykh’s advice to the students of knowledge and scholars regarding guiding the ummah back to the teachings of the Book and Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf as-Sālih. 

- A warning against differing and following desires.

- The reason this ummah is superior to other nations. 

- The passing away of the righteous, and a description of those who will remain. 

- That which is imperative upon the bearers of knowledge.

- Humbling ourselves to the judgement of Allāh and His Messenger ﷺ.

- Benefits from the statement of Allāh, إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَيَدْعُونَنَا رَغَبًا وَرَهَبًا وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا خَٰشِعِينَ “Verily, they used to hasten on to do good deeds, and they used to call on Us with hope and fear, and used to humble themselves before Us.” [Sūrah al-Anbiyā 21:90]
- Imām as-Sa’dī (رحمه الله) on how Allāh described the Prophets and Messengers in this āyah. 
- Reflecting upon the meaning of the terms al-Musāra’ah, al-Musābaqah, al-Munāfasah and al-Mubādarah, and examples of their usage in the Qur’ān and Sunnah.

- Statements from Ibn ‘Abbās, ‘Alī b. Abī Ṭālib, ‘Uthmān b. ‘Affān (رضى الله عنهم), Abūl-‘Āliyah, ad-Dahhāk and others (رحمهم الله) regarding the meaning of وَسَارِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَغْفِرَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ “Race towards forgiveness from your Lord…” [Sūrah Āl ‘Imrān 3:133]
