This is my little contribution to celebrate 25 years of Gus Gus music. Over the time the Gus Gus archive has been constantly growing. To pick and sort out songs has been a terrible job because so many beautiful tracks didn't make it in the mixtape. With the listeners aside I tried to go through 25 years of creative and always innovative Gus Gus music - album by album. One can hear the developing of new sounds since 1999 when Biggi started to play around with Doepfers synths.
It always has been a delicate pleasure to listen to Gus Gus music. It is a part of my life to listen to it, dream to it, dance to it, be creative with and through it and much more.
So all members of the past and in the future I thank you for this golden gift with the bottom of my heart!

Headphonemix 2 - Party in a jiffy with minimal defects & lots of cowbells

Hi folks… As winter draws near and the gloomy skies approach here in Portland, I made this mix with the season in mind. From the hypnotic vibe of Prurient and Rrose, to the pounding stomp of Raiz, and the 909 driven goth-punk of Røsenkøpf, there is plenty of post Halloween darkness to go around. Fear not though, there are a few optimistic moments peaking through those clouds. Ian O'Donovan's superb remix of "Goodlife", Jon Gurd and Joel Alter bring the Detroit sound to the table to funk things up. Anyways, hope you enjoy the mix and thanks so much for listening!

One of the first versions of "du läufst", zieht euch das rein, when we both lived in Berlin we spent long nights of making music, chilling and grilling, wenn nachts das licht der warm-gelben straßenlaternen ins zimmer fiel und wir nicht wussten, ob wir noch wach waren oder in einer welligen wolke aus schall tauchten. Gib eine tasse gehacktes dazu und dreimal gegen den mond pinkeln und du verstehst was ich meine. ach ja, und ein kickdrum, die irgendwie so krass aus dem akai sampler rauskam, keine ahnung wie das ging!!

Having just brought us the debut from Germany’s Bleak House, MOOD follow swiftly with a fresh EP from one of Techno’s most esteemed artists; label favourite Joel Mull. The big Swede follows his ‘Wind It Up’ and ‘Buzzers’ EP’s with a brand new MOOD offering that’s bursting at the seams with an impressively inspired five track selection. We’ll let Joel tell us more...

“The main inspiration behind the title track, ‘Firefly’, was to try and capture the vibe of where i would like to be a couple of hours in to a DJ set. Hypnotic, Melancholic & Trippy and with a dash of Techno-trance. The name Firefly is inspired by the Playstation Game The Last Of Us. One of the best games I ever played. A dystopian future with hope and a unique game play. Joshua Tree has been on the bucket list since i saw the cover of U2 album with the same name. I had the
opportunity to visit California and the National Park Joshua Tree last year in March. This track is named after and inspired by that experience. I can really recommend to go a there to visit.”

Motion Senses sees Joel flow from the atmospheric and expansive soundscape of Joshua Tree to a more stripped and mechanised groove. Now its time to get deeper. “Terraplane is a track I started to play around with on a train journey in Germany. I was so inspired by the night before, got lucky and nailed it in one hit. Its not unusual that I start writing tracks on the road, before doing the final arrangement and mixing in the Studio. Especially on train rides. It happens often on the plane home on a Sunday. The flight out is for preparation for the gig ahead, but on Sunday there is a special vibe and the brain is
sort of open to new ideas. So Sundays, if inspiration strikes and my ears are still not too tired i´ll open up Ableton and do sketches on the flight home.”

Joel closes out the bumper package with the aptly titled ‘Last Of Us’. A dreamy cut, dedicated to those final relentless and beautiful souls who remain on the dancefloor till the final beat. A perfect finale to yet another perfect Mull release.

Minus Connections May 2013 - Joran Van Pol

Hamburg, Germany based artist raschelhack, formerly also unknown as faun or as a member of the absolutely unfamous and fantastic hip hop crew bandit:S back in the days in Stuttgart, he also forms an electronic duo project „mic and beat“ with Chica Tranquila. Influenced by UK garage house sound, The Doors, and flashbacks to weird nights in Berlin techno clubs in early 2000s, he performs in his basement or on small stages with modular synthesizers and other electronic gear, trying to express his idea of sound, which can only be a desperate attempt.
