Our next release ‘Pebbles Mind Horrors’ comes straight from beyond the grave. Two old Mijo & Theus Mago collaborations that were resurrected after 5 years of burial in the cementery of Ableton projects (Los Ricos, Los Pobres) plus a brand new addition (Pebbles) make this EP a powerful tool for the dancefloor revival.

The opener track gives the name to the EP, a reflection of a weird nightmare, where spoken language had been abandoned and people communicated exclusively through dance moves and binary code. Robust bass, desolated synthesizers, distorted voices, glitches, and a high sugar percussion set from Rocco Desentis bring the track to life. 

The next two gems, "Nosotros Los Pobre" and "Ustedes Los Ricos" are inspired by "golden age" Mexican cinema, two narcotic and deep cut of dystopian techno. In the remix side, to take it even further to the limit, we have a raw, devastating and malevolent cut by the Multi-Culti sorcerer, Mytron.

Sinchi returns with Hary Shanthi, another member of their excellent collective who serves up a deep thinking new single steeped in traditional musicality with remixes from Anatolian Weapons and Stevie R and Parisinos. Once again, this is another not for profit release with all sales donated to the Sinchi Foundation which supports indigenous peoples worldwide.
Indian born Amsterdam resident Hary Shanthi is an earnest sound designer and a lifelong student who experiments with technology. He believes in the Art of Equalization and Management of Varied Frequencies alongside a deep love of crate digging. He brings real truth, meaning and new means of compunction to his music. Says the artist, "'Sivapuranam' is an attempt to raise the atman of “Manickavasagar” - a 9th century Tamil mystic, poet and Saivite philosopher - by creating the transcendental journey towards becoming one with "Siva" (that which is not) and become nothing. The track aims to prevent you from conceptualising this philosophy but rather feel it through the dematerialisation of all sounds and the merging of cosmic tones, dreamy timbre and synth oscillations which propagate in space and carry the spirit of this philosophy through the language of music." The stunning ‘Sivapuranam’ makes use of old Carnatic instruments such as Tannumai, Tavil, Sitar, Sarawasti
Veena, Konnakol (which is the art of performing percussions vocally) and Nadaswaram, and also makes use of percussion which is traditionally played to communicate particular messages over long distances. It makes for a transcendental track richly layered with these instruments as well as sleek synths and a loose, jumbled groove that makes you move.
Anatolian Weapons is Aggelos Baltas, who also releases as Dream Weapons and Fantastikoi on labels like Beats In Space Records. His music ranges from krautrock, to techno to acid to EBM and here he flips the original into a tense and rugged acid house cut steeped in rich cultural references that make it a hugely characterful as well as
effective dance floor track.
Stavros Potamitis (aka Stevie R) conjures emotion and weaves sonic tales by combining the rebetiko folk music of his Greek homeland with analogue electronics. With his long term collaborator Constantinos Parisinos, he runs Inside Out Records. Their version is a slowed down, deeply mysterious dub with withering sci-fi chords and paranoid vocals making for an intriguing atmosphere.
 This is a fantastically diverse package that brings a whole new world of influence to the dance floor !

The first few months of the new year saw dance music deities Nothing Is Real expand their vision internationally with the eclectic compilation EP ‘Made in Mexico’. Their latest releases see them refocus their vision on home territory, with a four-track bombshell from Italian producer Gabriele Lori, aka Astroloop. The ‘Right Before’ EP is a bold statement from a rising talent, following up the well received collaborative EP ‘Svegsy’, which was released on the legendary Jimpster’s Freerange Records. Featuring a potent lead single and an equally dynamic remix from Mexican producers Theus Mago & Moisees, this one places Astroloop firmly on the map and is sure to make his name known worldwide.

Astroloop’s debut solo outing opens up with the title track ‘Right Before’, a moody and muscular take on deep house that gradually builds tension and suspense throughout its six-minute duration. The track is followed up soon after with a stellar remix from two gifted Mexican producers, Theus Mago & Moisees, who bring the distorted vocal parts to the foreground while decorating the track with additional percussion, effects and melodies. The result retains the driving momentum of the original while viewing Astroloop’s productions through a beautifully twisted perspective.

The EP’s third track ‘Safer’ demonstrates Astroloop’s experimental spirit, as tricked-out vocal samples and uncanny MIDI instrumentation compete for the listener’s attention. This is a truly original and mesmerizingly unique piece of electronic music, and proves that the producer has more than a few tricks up his sleeve. Finishing off the release is the mid-tempo groover ‘Answers’, which slowly builds a head-nodding rhythm from chunky snares, punchy kicks and skittering hi-hats before a resonant bass wobble, processed guitar samples and a monotonous vocal refrain bring us back to that new wave edge listeners associate with Nothing Is Real.

When Dan came to us at Paisley Dark with the idea of releasing an electronic, psyche rock EP with “beats,” we were absolutely delighted to collaborate with him as this is the exactly the sound the label was set up to represent and share with the world. Dan doesn't disappoint with his “The Answer is Within EP,” the second release on Paisley Dark Records. Twangy guitars, tremolo, heavenly vocals and a heathy dash of reverb for good measure, pretty much ensure what we have here is a modern day psyche classic.
The A Space Age Freak Out remix dives head ﬁrst into Spacemen 3 territory, kidnapping Ravi Shankar along the way and hypnotising us with the aid of premium grade psychedelics whilst shifting through the gears to reach the heady heights of 120.99 bpm. On Love Is The Way To release, remix duties are handled by Tici Taci stalwart Martin Eve, who delivers a spaced out, slow-mo, funky slab of psychedelia tailor made for the "early doors" shufﬂers and dark corner dwellers. Last but by no way least, Bedford Falls Players treat us to a dubbed out techno monster climaxing with a sonic wall of sound, the likes of which Phil Spector could well be producing right now in an unblemished parallel universe.

David Agrella launches his own Agrellomatica Records imprint this May with four original cuts entitled the ‘Transition’ EP.
David Agrella is an Italian recording artist, DJ, Producer. Hooked into a music culture at a very early age, David started playing records in clubs in his hometown of Benevento before completing his studies as a sound engineer in Rome. He then moved to London in 2011, where he fast gained a reputation as a prolific selector with vast eclecticism and musical versatility. Hosting a monthly radio show called ‘Agrellomatica’ on the radio station Bloop and experimenting in the studio, David has been manipulating the sound of analogue synthesizers, drum machines and DJ sets alike with a unique vision. Driven by the need to encompass his musical inspirations and background connecting the dots between different electronic dance music styles, he now launches his eponymous record label, Agrellomatica Records.

Title track ‘Transition’ gets the ball rolling with a fluid drum sequence fused with rubbery synths and absorbing pads underneath before the ‘Floor Mix’ adds cosmic energy and dynamic fx to the exquisite original.

On the flip, ‘Third Floor’ features a combination of organic rhythms, shimmering low frequencies, and wavering acid stabs that spiral around each other until the dreamy, electro-tinged number, ‘The Puppets Are Back’ rounds things off with a balance of celestial melodies and deep grooves.

The young emerging Tel Aviv based talent, Genish, debuts his full-length EP 'Venga To Rinwo’ on Ya Hala Ya Hala Records. Three self-expressed cuts encapsulate the current vary output and forward-thinking musical scene of Tel Aviv.

The EP title is automatically intriguing, and it raises certain expectations, which are met by the music. The beats and basslines are rooted in an underground sensibility, clad in electric guitar riffs, oriental percussions, Sitar and Middle Eastern modal melodies, and instrumentation. The release marks the first original production from the Tel Avivian who is constantly playing the most esteemed nightclubs in Tel Aviv alongside his peers Chaim, Magit Cacoon and Kino Todo.

Already with a handful of releases behind him for labels like Disco Halal and Future Boogie, London-based DJ and producer Kincaid delivers a fine-tuned faultless and comprehensive remix of 'Venga To Rinwo'. A slo-mo workout submerged in psychedelic misty synth melodies.

PREMIERE : Zigan Aldi - Heppnar (Original Mix) [Souq Records]

Swept away by Zigan Aldi. The ‘Odin’ EP brews with Souq Record’s traditional smoky desert flavours, evoked by Eastern instruments meeting electronica. Yet The EP is quick to cut through expectations and take a resolutely urban, robust direction: moody takeoffs, low rumbling vocals, a guitar’s singing electricity, heady bass-lines, and enveloping darkness. Odin flirts with melodic techno but never fully gives in to its calls, riding the tension between organic and electric.

Zigan Aldi debuts on Souq with this statement EP, infused with his two homes of Eastern Turkey and Berlin. His atmospheric narrative is three part: Odin rises, Heppnar strikes, Desert Hills simmers down. Three smouldering remixes by Iorie, Zuma Dionys and Namito land the story on softer tracks, completing the picture with elegance.

This is a project made to support Switch Pocket Club in these times of pandemic, a small iconic bar in the Gracia neighborhood of Barcelona and home to the underground electronic culture of the city. All the artists involved in this compilation used to play at the club and wanted to collaborate by giving exclusive tracks. The result is a variety of genres but well connected, from slowmo to electro, house and techno with powerful tunes and other deeper ones and a hint of acid. This will be the first release of Lucasian Records, a new label created for the occasion by Deckard (owner of Switch Pocket Club).
