Loose Lips was born in 2015 as a multidisciplinary proposal focused on various musical activities: from record management to the planning of events and club sessions, radio-shows or the publication of a series of weekly mixes. 

As a record label, Loose Lips opted mainly in its early stages for the release of albums compiling tracks by a wide range of artists and projects, so to commemorate its ninth year in business, the British label is once again launching an album that brings together 18 tracks by different authors, many of them artists familiar with this project and located in Europe, America and Asia.

The release’s alchemy of tracks showcases Loose Lips’ continued commitment to surfing between rave, DIY and hip hop culture. The first in a monthly series called Internal Objected, aired 14th Decemeber 2020, Threads Radio.

This episode is 'Theories of consciousness a fairy tale of New York' with Benjy Barnett (PhD candidate) and a call in from Prof Karl Friston (worlds most cited neuroscientist). 

We discussed how the subjective ‘qualia’ of experience are an illusory trick of the brain, necessary so that conscious humans aren’t distracted with lower level perceptual and sensory processes. We introduced the Integrated Information Theory and how conscious level could be quantified and how consciousness could be split. We talked about the Bayesian brain, how prior beliefs can influence what you see in reality and then Prof Karl Friston joined at the end to say how the geometry of first-person perspective is also key for explaining sentience in a theory of consciousness.
