Bonjour tout le monde ! Des mois que vous nous la demandez, de semaines qu’on la peaufine, voici la nouvelle DECADE MIXTAPE ! Carte postale d’une époque et véritable madeleine de Proust, cette fois-ci direction les années 80s pour plus d’une heure de musiques et d’actualités qui ont rythmé la décennie ; de la chute du mur de Berlin à l’arrivée du Minitel en passant par la sortie d’E.T.
Ce concept n’aurait certainement jamais vu le jour sans le travail du duo australien Flight Facilities qui nous ont inspirés en réalisant plusieurs mixtapes en anglais sur le même thème. Nous voulions, à notre tour, proposer ce format avec un regard plus personnel sur cette époque et une dimension francophone qui nous tient à coeur.

About The Guests
Sophia Alexandra, a Toronto-based DJ and vocalist, has cultivated a distinctive style that merges melodic overtones and rhythms from diverse genres. Playing wide ranging sets that reflect a rich mosaic of influences, she frequently dives into the realms of deep house, UKG, electro infused and bass driven house & techno. Her mixes often convey a juxtaposition of deep intensity with light-hearted complexity, encouraging an energetic and playful dancefloor.
As a vocalist Sophia has gained support from local producer Pick a Piper, with whom she has toured locally and internationally. She has performed at festivals and clubs throughout Canada and Colombia, sharing the stage with globally renowned artists like Ghetto Kumbé, Systema Solar, and Uproot Andy.
Sophia also hosts and curates Mixology, a weekly Wednesday night event in Toronto. With the intention of championing the dance community, she showcases local and touring DJs and platforms diverse lineups that foster connections in the local electronic scene.

Afrique Like Me is a Toronto-based collective comprising Razaq El Toro, Martin Ses and Sonic Griot.
The collective curates musical experiences that celebrate art, electronic dance, underground and alternative music from across Africa and the diaspora. Afrique Like Me is also a pioneer of Eko Electronic, a fusion of alternative electronic music, funk, underground elements, West African music and Afrobeats.
Known for its event series, which bears the same name, Afrique Like Me started with an intimate after hours party in Toronto’s west end. The party grew into an event held in unconventional spaces, and is now a mainstay on the city’s social calendar.
The collective has performed in Canada as well as internationally, sharing the stage with acts such as Francis Mercier, Kasango, Citizen Deep, AMÈMÈ, Keys N Krates, Joezi and Awen; at festivals such as Electric Island, Pride Toronto, Bloom and Lumaterra; and at numerous venues, including Drake Hotel, History, The Velvet Underground, CODA, Grand Bizarre and Soluna.
Afrique Like Me is currently working on its highly-anticipated debut album, slated for release in 2025.

Bringing Up the Heat at Wiggle Room

A non-stop Party mix with 80's Electro Funk and Breaks showcasing the amazing functionality of The Roland TR-808 Drum Machine. Expect Funky Bass lines, plenty of filthy synths, a popping 808 and some ghetto blaster breaks. 

Most of the tracks in the mix are from the early to mid 80's around the Drum machine's inception.

The tracks are raw with the first half of the mix concentrating on the various Rhythmic styles the 808 is capable of leading into the second half of the mix where the Breaks element heats up. 

The mix was recorded on 808 day 08.08.18 and broadcast on Reform radio as part of a take over mix on Burton Joyce's (Zutekh) Radio Show.

Be sure to blast it out of a beat box for extra authenticity.
