For those of you who don't know, get to know. Sumgii is a multi-genre pioneer. Not only is he a DJ who never misses on tune selection, he's also one of the greatest underground producers that the UK has to offer. Mostly specialising in UK Rap and Dubstep, he has created Potent Funk as well as having worked with Foreign Beggars, Blah Records, Swamp81, Cult Mountain, Piff Gang and many more!
Illaman joins him as an MC who is continuing to make tsunami like waves with his own hectic brand of rapping/Mcing. It will be near impossible to find another rapper or MC who adapts his delivery to any style or tempo whilst fully maintaining his identity the way that Illaman does. Being headhunted by legendary Jungle/Drum n Bass pioneer Goldie as his chosen MC and host speaks volumes, with Illaman acquiring a cult following across the globe. Illaman regularly tours and hosts for heavyweight acts such as the Foreign Beggars, Chinese Man, Andy C, Fabio & Grooverider and Mistajam. Proving just how diverse and heavy he is, Illaman is now the lead singer of Grimer Rap Punk group Pengshui.

On August 13th London/Leeds-based seven piece Submotion Orchestra presented Blind Spot - the second single taken from their eagerly-anticipated second album Fragments. Now comes the stunning remix package.

Last year Submotion Orchestra released their debut LP Finest Hour. It lead to widespread media praise, an army of fervent fans, rapturous festival shows worldwide and sold-out headline gigs, including London’s Scala.

Blind Spot signals big things for Submotion Orchestra’s next chapter. Following the stylistic dancefloor shift of last single It’s Not Me It’s You, this new single swings the pendulum back to the lush and expansive sound that made the band’s name. It takes what was already a sweepingly cinematic blueprint and goes one step bigger and better, both musically and sonically.

The contrast between this track and It’s Not Me It’s You also highlights how the band have grown from their deubt: Fragments moves coherently between more styles than before, marking a broader palate of influences seeping into their output.

A curious blend of melancholy and subtly rising euphoria, Blind Spot fuses the band’s previous smoky and at times dense sound with a brighter, more pristine and summery optimism. It simultaneously maintains their signature mix of big bass, drums, piano/synth, strings, brass and Ruby’s sumptuous vocals - all finding their perfectly-audible place in the mix.

“There are things that should both satisfy fans of the first album, and surprise them too,” says Submotion keyboardist Taz Modi of Fragments. Watch this space to hear for yourself very soon.
