GM Guest Mix #134 comes from producer / DJ, @soniacalico. Born and raised in Taipei, she has been at the forefront of Taiwan’s dance music scene, striving to find new music and not be constrained by genre. Her recent collaborative project “Clutter Confines” is a response to the recent Taiwanese LGBTQ rights movement. In 2019 Taiwan became the first Asian country to legalise same sex marriage. The process has been long and arduous with a series of controversial referendums that blocked its legalization. A response to the situation, Sonia Calico's 'Clutter Confines' is split into four sections, each one presenting visual and sonic cues drawing on the artist's experiences with the referendum.
