Coming in fresh from remixing Young Franco's hit 'Fallin' Apart' featuring Denzel Curry & Pell, Melbourne-based duo Close Counters return with two smooth edits in their Double-A Side release 'IN NEED OF LOVE / WHEREVER YOU GO' which will be available exclusively via Bandcamp, with all proceeds from the first month of sales going to Australian charity Support Act.

"'IN NEED OF LOVE / WHEREVER YOU GO' is a two-track care package of soulful dance songs for these tumultuous times.

These two songs are explorations of the human voice as an instrument, using the recordings by Stevie and Lalah as the main focal point of these productions. We have such deep respect for these artists and the healing their music brings, we wanted to give these recordings new life by shifting them into a danceable realm whilst still doing justice to the music in the process. We want to honour the legacy and impact that black music, and particularly gospel and soul has on dance music over the world.

Continuing the art of sampling, these two songs started out as edits but took on a new energy as we added layers of synths, samples and percussion. We hope that the music hits the right places and brings some positivity no matter what your circumstances are!

BBE Music presents the first ever digital release for ‘Baby Doll’, a hidden Roy Ayers gem from the 70s, originally issued as a limited 12″ single back in 2003.

Initially intended to be the opening single for the first volume of Roy Ayers ‘Virgin Ubiquity: Unreleased Recordings 1976 – 1981’, somehow the track never made it onto the album itself, so this vintage disco cut has never appeared on digital formats, until now.

Featuring the great Bernard ‘Pretty’ Purdy on drums, ‘Baby Doll’ boasts William Allen on bass and Chano O’Ferral on congas, with vocals, keys and clarinet taken care of by Mr. Ayers himself.

We last featured super talented Sydney Duo @nightsetband on LV when they released their classy single Entry last year. Now they are back with the rather sublime track Diamond Eyes featuring Chilean vocalist Josué. 

The release comes with a buttery smooth soulful original version, a brilliant live version, which shows the incredible talent of the band to the full, and a dub version which takes things off into a warm deep soulful house direction. It’s another glimpse into the incredible talent of a duo who we highly recommend that you keep a close eye on in 2023 and well beyond.

This is a new sound for Get To Know. I stumbled on this as I wanted to become a "multi-instrumentalist" without having to take years out to learn, so I set myself a rule in the studio. All the musical parts had to be played in either on the keys, guitar or bass. 

This led to some horrendous music being made but eventually, I've reached the point where I'm able to sample my own playing and be happy or maybe even excited by it! 

Whilst I feel like this about the results, my enjoyment of the actual process is the same sensation x 1000.....

I've never enjoyed making music so much and I have 100s of track ideas that I'm genuinely buzzing to finish and get out there.

Bad Colours (real name Ibe Soliman) spent a lot of time during lockdown listening to Marvin Gaye, and the late Prince of Soul's influence is nowhere felt stronger than on Soliman's new single "Get You Off". A swanky instrumental with bass as smooth as butter is the perfect complement to Marcus Harmon's breathy falsetto. As sexy as it is infectiously groovy, this peach of a nu-disco track is sure to get you off. 

	Bad Colours is the moniker of London-born, Maryland-raised, Brooklyn-based DJ, songwriter, producer, and instrumentalist Ibe Soliman. The new project came together while isolating at home in Flatbush during the COVID-19 pandemic and was inspired by rough ideas, instrumental loops, and vocal samples that friends sent him. Known for his residencies at some of New York’s top venues, Ibe has been rocking crowds as a DJ for over a decade, and has shared the decks with the likes of James Murphy, Mark Ronson, and Q-Tip. He’s performed alongside Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Pusha T, and Young Thug, to name a few. When Ibe’s not in the booth, he’s in the lab, where he’s produced for Kendrick Lamar, Faith Evans, Keyshia Cole, and Rick Ross, among others. His debut album ‘PINK’ is set for release by Bastard Jazz on 26th February 2021.
