A Pulsar is a highly magnetised Neutron Star, emitting beams of electromagnetic radiation. When these beams point though wards Earth, we can register their signal. Due to the stars rotation, we register these beams as pulses…

“Runaway Star” is the first track released by EVENT HORIZON; a collaboration with Tyler Duncan, it is an introduction to the cosmological subject and electroacoustic aesthetic of EVENT HORIZON. Runaway stars or racing stars are large stars that are accelerated up to tremendous speeds, by processes not yet fully understood. They are observed racing through our galaxy, even sometimes racing out of the galaxy, escaping the entirety of its gravitational pull.
The track is built up in several segments evocative of humankind’s conceptual journey through space. It follows our intellectual evolution, ascending from familiar environments on earth, through primitive observations and inquiries of the night sky, to ultimately elevating through science into contemplation of the vastness of the universe itself, questioning the very fabric of time and space. The composition uses an unusual format as a ¾ Reel, allowing for a number of beats and time signatures to be superimposed, which is also used in the latter half of the track to emulate a phenomenon of space time distortion allegedly encountered around large celestial bodies such as giant runaway stars.

The self-entitled Album “EVENT HORIZON” will be published in winter 2016/2017.

Light is central to life on our planet as we know it. Throughout all of human history, the many facetted nature of light has inspired arts, hope and some of the most fundamental questions in science. By gazing up into the night’s sky, we can see the light of thousands of stars, reaching out to us across distances beyond imagination. The speed of light is an essential element for an understanding of the laws governing our universe. By revealing its many facetted properties, light enables us to see further into the mysteries surrounding our existence. Light, just like music, can also influence our mood, thus this track is an ode to the very nature of light.

02 Photon Wave

Proxima Centauri is the closest star to our own solar system. At a distance of 4.2 lightyears, the red dwarf also harbours the closest exoplanets discovered so far. Due to its relative proximity in space, Proxima Centauri is very likely to be one of the first destinations for space exploration beyond our own star system. This track was inspired by the imagination of a sunset on a planet orbiting Proxima Centauri, its warm red light adding to the exotic otherworldly scenery of a faraway world, which we might visit one day.

01 Proxima Centauri

Olympus mons is the highest known mountain in our solar system. At over 24 kilometres height it is a dominating landmark on Mars’s dusty surface. Since the confirmation that water once flowed on Mars, evidence keeps mounting, that there might have been organic life once on the now dust red planet. In light of recent aims at setting up a human colony on Mars within this century, the possibility of Mars having been a life harbouring planet once before, invites intriguing thoughts. It incites wider contemplation of the fragility of life on those lonely planetary islands, orbiting through the vastness of space. What might have been green once, can be deserted and lifeless tomorrow…
