"Unio Mystica", the opening of my opera "Eleusis-Greater and Lesser Mysteries". The opera is based on the Greek myth about Demeter (the Goddess of fertility) and her daughter Persephone (who is abducted by Hades). I created the music and libretto to reflect the process of mother and daughter individuation.

After her daughter Persephone is raped, abducted and imprisoned in the Underworld by Hades, Demeter-the Goddess of Nature-confronts her brother Zeus-King of the Gods, who allowed the rape and abduction-and he bargains for Persephone's release if Demeter will return to her responsibilities.
