You try not to think about the speed. Knowing the debris shield, built by the lowest bidder and wholly dependent on a prototype anti-matter engine, is the only thing keeping this ship from becoming a celestial colander isn't exactly comforting. Of course, out here not much is. But the reward has to be worth it. Ten months this mission has carried on; one disappointment after another as each potential location searched and nothing found. The signal is so powerful it reverberates throughout the universe like a siren call drawing many towards, but like a mirage it seems to simply vanish. Just like countless others that have sought it out before you. 

To think that for millennia, all the signs of it's existence had been right there for all to see. Or perhaps more accurately, to hear it. Had the signal always been there? Would we have ever discovered it if not for that fateful day? The mere idea that the signal even originated from one source seemed implausible. To find the source?! Unfathomable even ten years ago. 

Yet here you are. And there it is. 

It's both exactly as you hoped, and completely different than you could have ever imagined. For the first time, you think there may actually be a chance, however small, that you may actually be able to stop the sequence and end the destruction. You initiate the thrusters to begin final approach. As the engine's push you deep into your seat, you reach over and turn up the volume.
