I recently came across the great mixes from "Sanfrandisko" . I highly recommend him to all of you go check him out. I couldn't resist to have a go on his take of the Mtume/Lucas classic from Stephanie Mills. I wanted all the cheesy chorusses and bridges out and rebuild it almost like a house track. ... and it turned out a monster :-)

Stephanie Mills - Whatcha Gonna Do With My Lovin  Remastered 103 BPM

THP began in 1976 with their first LP "Early Riser" - produced by Willi Morrison and Ian Guenther. Their disco influence was based on a full orchestration of the Euro-disco sound with a funky band edge. It was big during their second release titled, "Two Hot For Love". The LP "Tender Is The Night" hit the discotheques during a period where a transition of the music was motivational.

"Music Is All You Need" is from the third LP (even though it is titled THP #2) and is one of the wall of disco sound from the group and also features vocals from Phyllis and Helen Duncan (Duncan Sisters) - it is a phenomenal statement and also a rousing piece of dance music. I have ReStructured the song using most of the parts which left a mark in my mind. It is segmented in edits and parts to create a whole new version.

The synth R&B duo The System was founded in 1982 in N.Y. by vocalist/guitarist Mic Murphy and genious keyboardist David Frank. 
"You Are in My System", which combined hi-tech synths with emotional vocals, was their senond single that ultimately reached iconic status and peaked at #10 in the U.S. R&B charts and #14 on the U.S. Hot Disco/Dance charts in 1982. A year later Robert Palmer covered it and hit #4 on the latter charts.

On this mix I work on The System’s bass-driven recording which I slightly prefer infusing bits of Palmer’s take. Also I include parts of the System’s Spanish version “Tu Estas En Mi Systema” released in 1983. Vocal rearrangement, extra synthlines / hi-hats / percussion & bass complete the picture. Enjoy :)

Throughout my early period of discovering disco music
it was always a thrill for me to hear a redit or remix of 
a piece of music that I was familiar with. 

It was a necessity for the underground feel of a disco hit that it contain the elements which dancers and deejays were accustomed to, and so desired.

With today's dance music it is typical to have 4 to 5 varied mixes to suit different club environments. Most of these customized mixes conform a song with new sound. At times a song may be unrecognizable within 2 mixes.

I have taken several classics and rare selections to reedit and create what I call "ReStructure Mixes" - some are pieces of the original and others are edited remixes. Most of these cuts I have used the original LP or 12" mix - straying from another engineers remix. This is to maintain my own sound with the original recording.
