Musical History

My remix for Cider Massive's "Embers Generation"

Created on my Akai S1000 with 100% outboard gear.  Sequenced on Renoise. 

This was a very challenging project that really opened my eyes to the possibilities of sampling.  This will be my 3rd completed track - getting easier every time :)  Enjoy and please share!

Cider Massive - Embers Generation (Ghaleon Rmx)

My 4th track - submission for the R/Jungle monthly competition and MadLabz discord.

Ran all the samples through my Akai S900 for some 12 bit glory, and created the tune on an Akai 3000XL.  Mixed on an APB Spectra T, along with a few outboard fx and comps.

Quite proud of this one as it came together quickly.  Its nice to know that I could bang out a tune in a weekend if the flow is right!

Submission for the r/jungle production contest.  Breakbeat Hardcore edition ;)

Made with an Akai S1100 and loads of outboard gear.  This one was a lot of fun to make, mostly b/c of so many breaks running at once.  It was a cool experiment to fit them together / eq them to get the sound I wanted.  Was also trying to see how grimey the samples could get through processing.  All samples were run through my S900, and then again through the S1100 to dirty them up.

Submission for the r/jungle Sept contest 

Quite proud of this one.  This is the first time I've had more than one sampler on a track.  Bass + fx on the 3000XL, drums + fx + vox + synth on the S1000.  This opens up lots of possibilites :)  Ran all the sounds through the S950 for some 12 bit love.  The Mackie CR1604 is a new addition as well, and can be heard on the drums.  Enjoy!

Bunch of firsts on this track.  Paid greater attention to having everything in key, used original vocals (thx to Doonaria), focused on making a chill roller type track, and better routing for my main busses.

Akai S950 + S1000 + 3000XL

Teamed up with DANG for some early jungle vibes - pushing forward!!  Using more stereo busses properly on this one.  Played around with stereo fx, more original vox.  Ran the drum buss hot through a yamaha m406 and I'm really happy with the drum sound.

Made rather quickly in 3 days in order to meet a deadline for the #madlabz monthly challenge.  Final mix was ran through a Tascam 122 mkII cassette deck to give it extra roughness!!

1st tune made with protracker 2.3F on the Amiga 1200 :)  Still got the training wheels on, but expect more ruff amiga business in the future.  No mastering done, just went through a DBX 162, and a PCM60 on the one channel.

GHALEON - LOVE ME REMIX

This mix is my first serious effort on 3 decks, and great care was put into every step of the recording process to make it special.  

The idea was to take full advantage of the extra turntable, and do some extra technical stuff that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.  The result is a complex mix - many layers, controlled chaos.  As usual, its strictly underground vibes.  Full of double drops, turntablism, and tunes that are a bit off the beaten path.  All original plates, all vinyl.

DJ Ghaleon (Ryan Pim) has been obliterating dancefloors for many years at numerous Toronto venues.  

A skilled turntablist, Ryan's uncanny ability to blend a variety of genres has helped set him apart from the rest.   Any genre is fair game, but his true passion has always been Oldschool Jungle.
