در افسانه‌ها آمده است که یک فوج از پرندگان برای پیدا کردن سیمرغ که در کوهی به نام قاف مسکن دارد، عازم می‌شوند. داستان آلبوم قاف نیز همین است؛ جستجویی برای پیدا کردن مقصود. اما برعکس شکل افسانه‌ای این داستان، قاف دیگر نه آباد است و نه محل آرامش و زندگی. حالا، به جای سیمرغ کلاغی بالای آن لانه کرده است. برای آوارگان جنگ در همه جای دنیا، غرق‌شدگان در دریا، کشته‌شدگانِ هنگام عبور از مرزها، قاف همان خانه‌ایست که آنها را رانده است. حتی گاهی تلاش آنها برای پیدا کردن و ساختن یک خانه‌ی جدید در آن سوی مرزها با تصویر کلاغی منتظر فرو می‌ریزد.

این آلبوم، حاصل سفرهای دو سال و چند ماهه‌ی من به ایران، ترکیه، یونان و افغانستان است. سفرهایی در جستجوی خانه. نمی‌دانم وقتی خانه‌ای نداری، سفر چه معنایی پیدا می‌کند ولی شاید همین جستجو خانه باشد، قاف باشد.

“In legends, it is said that a flock of birds sets out to find the “Sīmorgh” residing in a mountain called Qaf. The story of the album Qaf is similar: a quest to find the intended. However, contrary to the mythical form of this story, Qaf is no longer prosperous, nor a place of peace and life. Now, instead of the Sīmorgh, a crow has nested on the summit of Qaf. For war refugees everywhere, drowning in the sea, killed while crossing borders, Qaf is the same home that has driven them away. Sometimes, even the hope of finding and establishing a new home beyond borders is shattered by the image of a waiting crow.

This album is the result of my travels to Iran, Turkey, Greece, and Afghanistan over the course of two years and a few months. These were journeys in search of a home. I don’t know what meaning a journey holds when you don’t have a home, but perhaps the search itself is the home; is the Qaf.”

Children are the silent victims of war. That has been so throughout the history.
Shukria Tabassum was only nine when war claimed her life along with her family.
This piece is a tribute to all children whose dreams were erased by war.
