Brazilian Funk has started a global wave and São Paulo is its nerve center. “What’s happening in São Paulo is so big right now, I swear to you. We have such a huge producer culture and we’re playing all each other’s music, we’re not focused on what’s happening outside.”

Evehive & Zaila: The Vogue Funk BR
EVEHIVE and Zaila stand at the forefront of Brazil’s underground club movement, fusing the raw power of ballroom culture with the infectious rhythms of Brazilian funk. As visionary trans artists rooted in São Paulo’s vibrant scene, their work channels resistance, resilience, and revolution into sound. Through collaborations, performances, and community-driven projects, Evehive and Zaila have carved out a sonic identity that is fearless, deeply rhythmic, and unapologetically proud.

"Global Residency: São Paulo" chronicles Splice’s immersion into the scene of the Brazilian metropolis. Across six days, we talked to and danced alongside 15 artists and figures central to São Paulo nightlife. We produced a series of packs co-curated by BADSISTA at Estudio Central to highlight the sound at its source: eight Brazilian producers shaping a global phenomenon.
