Over a year since the release of his acclaimed, self titled debut album, and following a series of remixes from the likes of Gerd Janson, Shan and Audion, Ghost Culture returns to Phantasy with ‘Safe/Multiply’. An unashamedly club-rooted double single, both tracks find Ghost Culture’s expert electronic manipulation in more direct mode, recalling the tension and euphoria of early experiments ‘Red Smoke’, ‘Half Open’ and Understand. 

‘Safe’ wastes little time in exploring the more acidic soul of Ghost Culture's unmistakable sound. Grinding out a complex and uncompromising 303 over a landscape of sound that is ethereal and absorbing all on its own, the track subtly builds to an overwhelming and enrapturing breakdown, levelling out while having lost none of its ecstatic energy. 

Meanwhile, ‘Multiply’ creates a stunning build and release, conjuring an atmosphere that is easy to get lost in. An occasional spoken word interjection of the track’s telling title guides a delicate but powerful mix of punching drums amid a wilfully psychedelic escalation of synths. It’s a welcome return from Ghost Culture while he develops the sound of his new album – stay tuned for more news on that, coming soon.

I wanted to kick off the new year with something fresh and exclusive to share with everyone and after the success of my first compilation Moxie Presents Vol.1 it felt only right to get cracking with a second instalment.

With the same premise as Vol.1 the 9 track compilation is made up of a collection of artists I support on my radio shows and in the clubs, with each track being an exclusive download to this compilation.

It features some up and coming artists alongside some slightly more established artists with everyone offering something totally different. I play so many different styles and I wanted to make sure this was a true reflection of that so I hope you enjoy. We’ll also be releasing some vinyl samplers later in the year so keep an eye out for that!

The yearlong hiatus is finally up. Ghost Culture is back, taking no prisoners whatsoever with this new double A-side release on Erol Alkan's Phantasy Sound. The acid flavour of the EP opener "Safe" sees Ghost Culture turning classic club sounds to a darker tone of house and techno. Still 'unashamedly club-rooted', the track sees progressions through different landscapes of dance music history – all painted within Phantasy's rubric of steady tension and euphoric release throughout.

As Turbo celebrates its 20th anniversary, we feel conflicted over making a big deal out of it. On the one hand, 20 years of sustained excellence makes you an institution. On the other, it seems beneath an institution to throw itself a big birthday party at the local laser tag arena. This is the kind of dilemma we’ve been grappling with for two decades now. 

Originally released in 2002, “Sunglasses at Night” is the song that launched label boss Tiga to singing-DJ superstardom. The electro update of Corey Hart’s switchblade owner’s anthem was nothing short of a phenomenon, thanks in large part to the production wizardry of Zyntherius, aka Jori Hulkkonen, a strong contender for lifetime Turbo MVP. 

So as we look back while looking forward while remaining completely in the present moment, we’ve entrusted a huge part of our history to some of today’s hugest artists. But nothing could be huger than the gratitude we feel toward our longtime fans, those who have been with us since the beginning and who probably know that “Sunglasses at Night” wasn’t even released on Turbo. This is for you.

What is Techno Seleba? Is it a pseudonym for one of today’s hottest dance music stars? Is it a pseudonym for all of today’s hottest dance music stars, dancing arm in arm around one giant mixing board? The truth is in there somewhere, Sherlock.
