In December 2024, I decided to take the leap and learn music production. In January 2025, I took a challenge to make a beat per week for the entire year. I got up to 22 weeks of consistency for my Beat per Week challenge. Unfortunately, I had to stop because of IRL responsibilities, but in those 22 weeks, I've learned a VAST amount of things and exponentially grown my production skills.

These are all the songs I made from the beginning of my music journey in December 2024, up to before my first official single release in December 2025.

All these songs are rough -- they're raw. It's a record of my musical journey from the first year of my production journey. It's a record of all my learning from musical production & composition to mixing & mastering. So some songs may be louder than others, others may have really poor or wide mixes, and some songs are just bad lol.

Happy with the composition, still super frustrated with the mix. Can't tell whether this version was better or worse than than the last one.

I concede further mixing this song -- for now. I learned quite a lot from this though.

Lessons Learned:
- Sound selection is more than what kind of sounds, but also what frequences. Low & High get filled very easily, so keep that in mind when selecting sounds.
- A "terrible" master is a reflection of the mix. I've had to redo this mix so many times.
- Fix the EQs, mix to the drums.
- Start with low db all around to give yourself headroom. (Now I really know what this means).

Not as wide as I'd like it to be, but compared to my last two mixes, I'm quite satisfied. :)

Finished somewhat early this week. This was one was quite fun, though I think the intro could've used a bit more work.

I am SUPER happy with this one. Super happy with the turn out! I had so much fun with this track. This is the first track where I feel satisfied with pretty much every aspect.

Shout out to @exophonicmusic for the idea to chop up vocals. Wasn't planning on learning vocal chopping yet, but what better time than now, yeah?

Sometimes you make tracks you like. Other times, you make tracks that are a learning experience.

Homage to  @shllw-1's 3:03PM. Thank you so much for the inspiration.

Production Notes:
- Melody sound selection needs work. Actually, it's just bad.
- Arrangement was okay.
- SFX arrangement towards the end seemed off when trying to piece it to the melody.
- SFX probably too much for a bgm track.
- Melody composition was okay. Maybe too complex for the vibe I was going for.
Overall, after getting to a certain point, I wasn't happy with the composition. 

Mixing Notes:
- SFX isn't loud enough to hear the sync with the melody.
- Melody seems too loud still.
- Lacking mids in the intro. Maybe it's just my ears working on this track for so long, but I absolutely hate the melody sound selection in the intro.
- Bell jingles sound too raw and harsh.
- Reverb during the pause is too much, takes away from the silence.

Mixing Notes from @bigjibbah
- mix to the groove more (focus more on the head nodding instead of showing off the color bass sounds.)
- color bass too wide - multiband compression (sounds out wide are probably too wide and need more control/less volume)
- snare attack add high harmonics for attack/bite on snare
- more bass standing up in the mix (slap another limiter on the bass)

Honestly... this was kind of a very difficult track for me. So many days this week were spent uninspired. So many days I felt like I was on the cusp of "burning out". 

But I did it. I completed it. And it's... listenable, I guess. Not my proudest work. But still satisfying to be staying on track.

No falling behind for me this week. :)

In order to get to the song I want to make, I have to get through tracks upon tracks upon tracks that I sometimes end up not liking. And that's okay. How many tracks have producers started and scrapped?

I am determined to finish.
