Michna's "Increasing Ambition" is taken from the Hohokum Soundtrack out August 12 as a 22-song digital compilation and on October 28 as a rainbow-colored 12” vinyl sampler featuring seven special cuts.

Hohokum is a distinct creative collaboration between artist Richard Hogg and Honeyslug, a London-based game studio. The vibrantly whimsical game emphasizes exploration and creativity with a playful touch. With the vision to create an experience free of typical video games pressures, Honeyslug delivers inspiring and unique gameplay in Hohokum.

Players take on the role of a flying, Technicolor being, like a curious kite. Travelling through the colorful world, players can uncover secrets by interacting with elements around them in different ways—such as carrying characters to new areas on their back or flying over objects to illuminate them. Hohokum is full of surprise; even running into certain objects can be its own reward, as the interaction produces music or effects which add to the level’s soundtrack. From the way a player navigates the world to how characters can communicate to the vividly abstract artwork, Hohokum is an expressive and mesmerizing universe. While there are goals, secrets, and trophies discovered along the way, at its heart, Hohokum is a playground—a place to wander about and get lost in.

The music of Hohokum mirrors the game’s eclectic and detailed landscape, with a wide selection of Ghostly artists contributing their songs. Between musicians and producers like Tycho, Shigeto, Matthew Dear, and Com Truise, the soundtrack is a fully realized exhibition of contemporary electronic sounds. Some producers meet in the DJ booths or dancefloors of seminal club nights, or at the counters of record stores fighting over the last copy of an in demand 12” or are even introduced to each other by other iconic artists - https://soundcloud.com/atella's Magnus and Johannes met during a piggyback race. This unlikely if fortuitous scenario seems to sum up the Norwegian duo and their incredible sense of humour. There’s an impish sense of both fun and imagination to their work that matches frisky electronics to gently uplifting atmospheres. For their new cut, ‘Closer To Life’, Atella have joined forces with singer Frøder, recently cited by Nylon as one of Norway’s most promising new artists, to deliver a track that can stand proudly amongst the output of fellow Bergen natives Röyksopp or Lindstrøm (whom they have remixed).

Atella explain: “Closer To Life is the result of the good friendship we have with the amazing artist Frøder. The song is an atmospheric reflection of our world’s unstable and chaotic journey through the universe. Close To Life is the sequel (or prequel - who knows?!) to Closer To Life. A targeted journey through time and space, and the search for extraterrestrial and/or intelligent lifeforms - are we getting closer? We can feel it.”  

Atella made their debut on Eskimo with ‘The Monster’ back in 2014, a track that featured in ‘Scream’ (the TV series spin off from the film trilogy) and was heavily supported by scores of DJs including the legendary Busy P. Their previous single ‘Mechanical Sparrow’ featured O. Martin on vocals (the musical ally of Aurora) and they’ve recently worked with or remixed the likes of Ary, Dagny and Bow To Each Other, who won the Norwegian Grammy Award for pop band of the year. Get ready for the Nordic invasion.

Softwar are 2 body builders from Sydney - Myles Du Chateau & Jeremy Lloyd - and they HAVE FINALLY finished their EP on Future Classic called 'This Time Around'.

As much as we tease Softwar at HOW SLOW THEY ARE they have some pretty serious chops - their debut EP was signed to DJ Kaos' label Jolly Jams, their track ‘Colour Flight’ was hand picked by Kitsune for their Tokyo Mix CD, their residence at Slow Blow at Goodgod, Sydney has got millions of hot fashion girls into deep house AND they've remixed Mario & Vidis and Mitzi – meaning this will be their third appearance on Future Classic vinyl.

When Softwar started sending us demos they often came labeled with odd names like 'keyboard', 'brown noise' or 'good song' - so we had to ask them "What happened to brown noise.mp3 and realgooddemo.wav?"

"We tried to give the songs half decent, suitable names. 'This Time Around' was kinda easy as the lyrics are pretty self explanatory.. 'you got me feeling real good this time around', ‘August’ was made in... Surprise... August! and then ‘Taken Liberty’ was made with honestly no real meaning in mind at all - maybe a reference to some time we spent in New York last year."

'This Time Around' resonates filtery deep funk, soul and house and we're glad it’s finally here and not called brown noise.
