The days were shorter and the nights were dark and cold, it was times like these that he dreamed and drifted off. Wandering through the quiet streets he occasionally caught a glimpse into the homes and houses of the cities endless strangers, he wandered what life might be like in the ethereal bubble in which they lived. He was not a part of such a world, a lonely soul lost walking in the night, looking for the next place to go.

Everybody's favourite vibrant and electric, cassette distributing label from the West Coast, 100% SILK, is back with a couple of releases. SILK 104 is coming from Pleasure Model and SILK 105 sees The Cyclist make a full length return after his appearance on their Ghost Ship tribute compilation, "Silk to Dry the Tears". Entitled "Alabaster Thrones", the Birmingham-based producer delivers "tape throb", a sound that he himself has coined and developed over the years. There's a bit of a bonus to this release though as the initial four track offering is being sold either with or without an additional 6 track cassette featuring additional material.

The unexpected extra cassette, "Beat at the Heart of the City", dials down the hardware crunch and delivers six compositions from The Cyclist's analog vault, composed over a period of 9 years. From dancefloor ready grooves to shimmering beat-less melodies, there is something to catch the ear of even the pickiest listeners. Our premiere today comes courtesy of the first track and is entitled Lucille. Hazy chord stabs and crisp drums set this number up for some prime time footwork. Blending uplifting, emotional pads and haunting vocals with a contagious groove and a rising, arpeggiated acid melody, it's got all of the elements to be both a club or home use favourite.

Set for release on April 6th, the 12" vinyl and cassette package is really like a full length album and we highly recommend grabbing the two together from 100% SILK's Bandcamp.

South London based music heads Chris and Chris, AKA FYI Chris are back with a release on Toy Tonics. FYI Chris were cemented into the forefront of the Peckham music scene following a release on Rhythm Section and their work at local record store Rye Wax. The  talented duo manages the record store giving them an opportunity to share their eclectic music taste with everyone that visits.It’s one of those shops where you pick up a record and they suggest another. Before you know it you have a bag full sounds you had never heard before, but are not sure how you could have possibly lived without.

Today we premiere the third track of the EP titled Flat Psych.The track is driven by the rhythmic pattern of the cymbals, ticking hi-hats and swinging percussion. A vocal harmony that has been chopped and sliced brings the feel good vibes.  In a mix this one is perfect when you want to refresh a dance floor add some percussion and bring some positive energy. Sol Power Sound adds to a string of hot 2019 releases with the Special Features EP by the Sol Power All-Stars, featuring remixes by DJ Spinna and LA's Caserta.
The lead track, Don't You Let Go, features the project's centerpiece, DC-based vocalist Kenny Wesley. His agile tenor swoops and dances over a soulful, multi-layered, dubby excursion. An accomplished songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Wesley's career has significant milestones in the jazz, pop, and progressive soul worlds. We're excited for him to step into the dance music lane with us.
We asked DJ Spinna (one of our musical heroes… but isn't he everyone's?) for a Galactic Soul treatment and he delivered inna signature Spinna style, that’ll make you b-line to the dancefloor.  
Caserta took it classic NYC (with a lil UKG) on his Caserta's At Work flip. Let the record work through the build, the gospel-esque break down, and then open up into a piano and vibes solo. Patience is a virtue, especially with a peak time slapper like this.
If there is such a thing as a keyboard battle track, Number One Station is it. It features New Orleans-based synth wizard Daniel Meinecke over a broken afrobeat-inspired track, letting all his axes get busy. Trust us, you don't want to step to him (that's also Daniel you hear on Don't You Let Go).

Nick has been quietly making a name for himself over the past few years as one of Washington DC’s most exciting producer/DJ's, traversing many different sounds and styles both in the studio and the club. His forthcoming effort, the Realize EP, dials back the heavy sound design displayed on his previous releases and opts for a more stripped-down approach to house music. Nick goes back to basics here, flipping classic samples over simple, punchy bass lines and retro drums. “Realize” and “Livin’ Wild” are straight up club jams that turn heads with their huge low end and sing-along vocal samples. Nick breaks out the guitar on “Let Me Down,” a somber ode to failed love that hits you right in the feels. The EP covers lots of sonic and emotional territory, creating a diverse set of tracks that will feel right at home in the crate of any committed house DJ.
