„BARDO“ is the second album from Ghosts Having Breakfast. 

In Tibetan „BARDO“ means an intermediate state between death and rebirth. Its traditional German meaning is: the wolf with the battle axe. How fitting for van Dyck's newest album, with its distinctively wild way of expanding on and exploring the sounds from his first album. Like a journey from innocence to experience – and back - „BARDO“ winds its way along the ears passageways, opening up worlds of gloom and realms of hope. Through his music, Vinzenz van Dyck throws all attempts at pigeon-holing or categorizing to the winds and serves us a swinging tableaux of psychedelic-folk, electro and acoustic. He was influenced by a variety of musicians, from Neil Young and Nick Drake to Depeche Mode. 

So we steer towards the light, as „Take a ride“, the first piece, implies, and sample the fruit of desire, the apple from the tree of knowledge. Still unspoilt, or is it? With „BARDO“ everything is served: birth, life, death, ecstasy, love, dreams and madness.

I have written and recorded this song during my travels in Asia 2014/15, which are still ongoing by the time of writing these lines.
I have mixed this song on the road, in hotel rooms and
waiting halls.
