Ghost Tiger's Some Friends Feel Like Family marks the band's first album, a collection of seven songs recorded with guitarist Christopher Norlinger, keyboardist Emma Huston, bassist Kevin Evans, and drummer Chris Stansell. Six of the seven songs were recorded at the magical Panoramic House in Stinson Beach above the ocean with talented producer Jason Quever of Papercuts (Dean Wareham/Beach House/Vetiver). The song “Science Camp” was recorded with notable composer/producer Christopher Tyng (Futurama/The O.C.) in his beautiful Star Hill Studio as part of the Grow Music Project. Some Friends Feel Like Family is a testament to this line up’s collaboration which centers around Macmillan-Fiedel’s honest and heartfelt songwriting and Norlinger’s lush guitar soundscapes. 

The songs on Some Friends Feel Like Family form a cohesive whole while each bringing a unique sound; from the sparkling opener “Buckle,” the heart wrenching love song “I Want You Out,” to the brooding multi layered dirge, “Whiskey Winter.” Ghost Tiger’s eclectic sound shines through with abundance on “Science Camp.” The driving dance beat, layered harmonies, catchy bass and guitar riffs along with Macmillan-Fiedel's strong lead vocals highlight Ghost Tiger's dynamic range.

More Than Enough

Ghost Tiger was formed in 2011 out of songstress Alixandra Macmillan-Fiedel’s quest to expand her sound. As a solo artist, Alix grew up with the music of her father, film composer Brad Fiedel (The Terminator, True Lies), but after years of playing on her own she felt the need to incorporate new textures and ideas. Ghost Tiger was named one of Santa Barbara's Best New Bands by the Santa Barbara Independent in both 2011 and 2012. The group released a 7”, Birdfeeder, in June of 2013 and kept busy honing their live set on the West Coast sharing the stage with acts such as White Buffalo, Gardens & Villa, SISU, Pickwick, and Radiation City, to name a few.

The sound of Ghost Tiger is a mix of '60s girl groups, classical composition and African rhythmic influences with soulful vocals and spacious sounds that culminate in an invigorating approach to folk pop.
