Luke Mandala / Mandala Affect @ Coalessence Ecstatic Dance - March 2023

3:30pm, outdoors in a super gorgeous desert with a big view of snow capped mountains. I was under the impression that the following act was going to be a downtempo act, so I planned a set accordingly. Then during my set I found out that it wasn't going to be a chill out set after me, so I picked much of this on the fly.  

Here’s my Moontribe story and quite how much of an impact MT has had on my life, music, other collectives I’m involved with, sound systems, etc. Happy 30 year anniversary to the legendary moontribe family!

From ‘98 to about ‘09 I basically didn’t know anyone who played and made music like me… some styles of melodic/psychedelic/deep/adventurous and experimental music. Some people call it weird but to me it’s not weird. It’s home, adventure, expanding, ever-changing, creative and bliss. Before I found out about Moontribe, I basically planned on being a Northwest weirdo in my adventures with this sound.

I heard of the mystical, highly respected and “secret” Moontribe for years but didn’t ever get a chance to go…then found some MT mixes which became favorites as I related so much. Treavor Moontribe/Treavor Moontribe started releasing some of my music and asked me to come play a MT reunion.

It felt like I found my long lost soul family. MT has been one of my biggest inspirations for music, etc. because of the open minded musical perspective at the gatherings, feedback I get from Moontribers in person and online, playing certain tracks I make that only work at MT, sustainable event production, locations interacting with nature, the high potentials of happiness from community/security/health, sound system capability, I could go on and on… I can’t thank the MT family enough for the massive amount of happiness and inspiration it has spread to so many people!!! 🙏🏻

Happy to share this 12-2am set with you guys from one of the funnest events I've played in a while. They did a great job with this event and it fully popped off...as you can hear from the crowd (we recorded the crowd as well). 

I was playing some wind instruments and a drum pad and I'm finally getting a mix out that was recorded with a show with those instruments included.

To celebrate one year from the Eclipse in Oregon.... here is DeafChild and Gorilladust  Live from the Moon Stage at the Global Eclipse Gathering 2017. Hanging out with 70,000 weeerdos across the weekend was the experience of a lifetime.. this gathering of our psy community across the PNW and the US at at 12am on Thursday night was really special. Big love to the Eclipse family freaks from around the world! I can't really describe the experience of playing my favorite music at this event on that bonkers stage for thousands of people with the friend that inspired me to play psy so many years ago......still blows my mind to think about. Easily the most fun hour of my life. Thanks for going on the ride with me Adrian!  ... Enjoy!

Deafchild And Gorilladust Live At The Global Eclipse Festival 2017

Sometimes djing can lead to the most incredible places and experiences... This set comes from one of those nights.. celebrating the anniversary of two of my favorite humans on the North shore of Kauai looking out over the water at the Napali coastline under a brilliant Hawaiian starscape.. It was a once in a lifetime chance to play in this normally off limits location. Gotta give it up for old school raver ingenuity! Recorded live from 12am-2am. Its a compilation of some of my favorite tracks and some new hotness from last summer. It was a blast to play out over the ocean and melt some sand with the homies!
