OS Premiere: Kahter - Tell Me [Basilica]

EMA’s Woozy label continues apace with WZY2.5; a new compilation highlighting 8 artists from Ireland and afar that embody the imprint’s obsession with low-end futurism. Featuring 2 production debuts, this release acts as an exciting snapshot of the talented global community surrounding the label and its founder.

Dublin-based Ambit kicks us off with Act Of Goodness, her impressive debut that skanks on a ‘08 dread-step tip. Fellow Dub PLUS ONE drops/raises the tempo for TRIAL, a stripped back halftime sub workout. Mid Air’s Huna seesaws a techno dancehall/d’n’b lurch with wild exploratory sound design in Lang. More Cowbell’s Eich also debuts with the mid-tempo party bass swagger of INDUCTION. Vancouver’s Destrata applies throbbing wubs and dramatic breaks on a smart 2-step break in Amphibian Barrier. Amsterdam’s Jasmín takes things on a more sinister route, delivering the technoid punk chug of Grumpy Cat. New York’s Sobolik revs up the gears with the playful ‘n’ bouncy hardcore rush of Deadly. WDDS sees us out with Slow Burner, a tense d’n’b roller that itches with junglist rinse-out fervour for a proper finale.

For our second installment on Ghosttown Records we welcome London-based Eyeza to the label. The DJ and Producer, who also runs the Basilica imprint delivers a heavy three track EP, showcasing his versatile reflection of the contemporary club sound.

„Exist Physically“ opens with a pressure building drum pattern, shooting kicks and spacious claps, promising complete shutdown, while „IATTOB“ continues with a percussive thriving, undermined by a dark, yet lively tension enriched by hypnotic vocal chops. „Off a Pill“ follows its forgone energy and dives even deeper into a rhythmic and gritty hybrid soundscape to perfectly round up this journey at the verge of raw, grime-infused UK Techno, guaranteed to turn every dance floor into an ecstatic experience. EMA’s Woozy label returns with @sharu 's Match My Sway EP; a powerful club record that sits proudly in the canon of modern protest music; written in 2021. Dubstep-influenced electronics meet spoken word on the continued struggle of oppressed nations’ fight for liberation. Comes with a slamming Walton remix, with all artist profits going towards the Kyiv Angels and Repair Together charities in Ukraine.

Sha Ru are a New York-via-Berlin based duo renowned for their deft mix of spoken word and club electronics, gaining notoriety thanks to their exhilarating productions and renowned live, hybrid and DJ sets. Having spent most of their time based between two different countries, the covid pandemic unexpectedly united the band in Belarus and subsequently Ukraine for an extended period of time. They quickly found themselves immersed in each country’s  respective electronic music scene, building strong relationships within each community. It quickly became apparent that both countries were actively fighting for their future freedom, and the duo felt compelled by the unity they experienced in this to respond with music. This resulted in Match My Sway, a record chronicling resistance both lyrically and sonically that found a suitable home
on EMA’s impressively futurist-leaning Woozy imprint.

The EP opens with Temporary Iteration, a fierce steppers track with plummeting subs that chronicles a moment of transition into clarity by focusing on the ‘now’; staying true to your belief by moving directly towards your goal together. Not Fluctuating ups the sonic ante with hefty kicks, drill snares and potent throbbing bass, while the vocals describe the feeling of ultimate resistance in the name of seeking the truth.

Side B enters with Synced Energies, acting as the EP’s thrilling climax. Percolating synths pogo around a 2-step beat providing chest-gripping catharsis. Lyrics repeat a mantra of unity, refuting
divisions. Tectonic and Ilian Tape affiliate Walton sees us out with the intense stuttering rave mechanics of his Not Fluctuating remix, a modern techno monster that deserves to be enjoyed on a 10ft tall rig; a complimentary take on a powerful original.

What do clouds sound like?  For 3024's first release of 2023, we are super proud to present an exploration of that question by the amazing Italian-Ivorian producer Ehua on her new EP.  

"Clouds EP" consists of four sonically and energetically varied tracks inspired by the paradoxical nature of these mood-shifting objects, suspended in space. They can be heavy or light, menacing or comforting, distraught or at ease. They are still but in motion, they can cause fear and confusion or give you strength, awareness and empowerment.  Ehua's music combines live handmade percussion and flutes (the ancient Duduk on Nefele and recorder on Vola) with fierce drum programming and synth work.  This is music for the mind and the 'floor! Dublin DJ/producer Sputnik One shares the second offering from his recently launched label N-Face - the follow up to 2022’s debut release Supa Natural/Grafters ft. Belfast-based rapper EMBY which was supported by Ben UFO, CCL, DJ Voices and more.

The club-destroying compilation spans 10 tracks, featuring bubbling bass and glitchy breaks through cheeky wafters to fresh and exciting techno and dancefloor mutations from a total of 11 artists and groups from three continents. Rising talents Dual Monitor, Glimmerman, LWS & No Sir join label head Sputnik One & K-Wata, as well as fresh faces St. Amp, Outl1er, DJ Gerard, Puncta and Young Muscle. N-Face 002 V/A showcases the Dublin artist’s strong vision and A&R hand and celebrates some of the most talented underground heads about. Staying in line with the spirit of collaboration set out in N-Face 001, Sputnik One teams up with K-Wata for their contribution to the compilation, with ‘Back Innit’ a chugging drama infused percussive roller.

The artwork, designed by Harvey Wise gathers historical objects from disparate corners of the world, using the ‘Hook / Crook’ monogram to tie everything together thematically. Hot on the heels of the labels’ first release N-Face invites a dynamic group of artists to explore the vast spectrum of percussive electronics in forward facing dance music.
