Ramon Tapia drops his first solo outing for Truesoul with the classy ‘Manipulate’.

The recent outstanding form of Ramon Tapia has been too good to ignore for Adam Beyer. In December the Belgian dropped the powerful ‘Hexagon’ as part of the Truesoul V/A EP, and with Beyer’s attention on lock, follows up swiftly with the excellent ‘Manipulate’ EP.

The title track embodies the ethos of Truesoul to a tee; a crisp and groovy work that straddles the divide between house and techno, it’s a late-night burner that shines courtesy of a dark searing electro bassline and pin-sharp drum work that builds up to a deliciously nasty finish. Its accompaniment is ‘Adam and Eve’, a punchy peak-time cut elevated by an energetic vocal, atmospheric pad and energetic melody line that has it begging to be dropped during a euphoric festival moment.

Drumcode signee Marco Faraone dominated the 2017 summer season with "Desert Crash," a infectiously mysterious techno cut that got rinsed on multiple ends of the techno spectrum. Finally, widespread recognition had come to the blossoming talent, who'd been a part of the production-sphere for years beforehand.

His standards in forging heavy-hitters has not diminished, as proved by his new release on Carlo Lio's On Edge Society imprint. Its eponymous A-side "Stage Capture" opens the work up on a thunderous note, assaulting the ears with pounding drums, white noise, and robotic vocal samples that add to the tension. Though a rough ride from start to finish, the piece is well-made and futuristic to its core — perhaps another anthem in the making for Faraone.

Brooding & dark as the name suggests, the title track goes full throttle from the getgo, armed with an infectious hook, it is a joy to watch audiences connect with the record on the dancefloor. For the flip side - fellow Argentine Nicolas Taboada joins the boys for their more melodic and emotive effort on "Polaris". Incredibly excited to be adding such talent to the kraftek catalogue, names that are certainly the rising stars of future techno.
