North Phase and ADR share duties on this four track split EP, each dropping two tracks, although all four of them are firm dancefloor-filling candidates. North Face's 'Breaks Away' adds a few retro rave flourishes to a beat that's a distant cousin of Zinc's '138 Trek' and a bouncy, bumping bass holding the whole thing together. 'Sound Connection' has a hypnotic charm that nods to Fluke and early Underworld, although choppier and less linear in rhythmic approach.

Aside from being probably the best named track we've come across in 2023 so far, ADR's 'Ned Flanders Hot Chocolate' is skippy enough to be 4x4 garage but with its scratched asides and cheeky, funky b-line has a unique personality, while 'Comet Relief' nods to the progressive house of the early 90s with an unexpected xylophone-like twist. It's all good, as they used to say.

Subb-an joins the Semi Delicious family for their 17th edition with the aptly named ‘Wobble’ EP, complete with a remix from label head Demi Riquísimo. The release marks another progression in the label’s sonic development as Subb-an contributes a heady, all killer no filler collection of tracks that fit snugly in the diverse, forward thinking back catalog of the imprint. ‘Liquid Sun’ kicks off the release. A subtle, chugging track that utilises a classic organ with a bass acid lines to get rolling.

A low end heavy ‘Contact’ is next bringing with it a deep brooding tone and housy shuffling drums. The A-side wraps up with ‘Balance’ a more ethereal track that uses classic deep house motifs whilst remaining inherently modern. The title track ‘Wobble’ opens up the B-side doing exactly what it says on the tin and the EP closes out with the main man, Demi on remix duties putting his own imitable spin on the aforementioned track.

Amsterdam’s Easttown joins the roster of Cécille Records this April with his four-track
‘Chaos’ EP.

Dutch producer and DJ Easttown debuted in 2018 and has since gone on to release his
modern interpretation of a classic house sound via the likes of the powerhouse ElRow
Music, Franky Rizardo’s LTF Records, Folamour’s House Of Love and Amsterdam’s NEED
Music among others.Here, Easttown’s latest collection of works comes via Nick Curly and
Marc Scholl’s long running Cécille Records and sees the imprint continue to shine a light
on the rising talents of the Dutch capital, following on from EP’s by D.Stone and Rooléh.
Leading the EP is title-track ‘Chaos’, laid out across six minutes with a rolling drum
groove, swelling sub bass, an amalgamation of choppy vocal cuts and swirling filtered

synths lines. ‘Passion’follows and retains a similarly loop led aesthetic via a snaking low-
end drive and crisp drums, intertwined with ever unfurling sweeping atmospherics and

intricate synth effects.
Opening the flip-side is ‘Athletic’, veering into more disco infused House territory via a
funk tinged bass groove, orgnanic percussion, jazzy keys, cinematic strings and resonant
synth licks. ‘Circles’ then concludes the EP, laying down crunchy drums and bouncy
plucked bass notes with heavily delayed resonant stabs a hazy underlying atmospheric
tension.
