ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਉ ਕਾ ਚਉਪਦਾ ਘਰੁ ੨ ਦੂਜਾ ॥
Chau-Padhay Of Kabeer Jee, Second House:

ਚਾਰਿ ਪਾਵ ਦੁਇ ਸਿੰਗ ਗੁੰਗ ਮੁਖ ਤਬ ਕੈਸੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਈਹੈ ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਿਸੇ ਪਸ਼ੂ-ਜੂਨ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ) ਚਾਰ ਪੈਰ ਤੇ ਦੋ ਸਿੰਙ ਹੋਣਗੇ, ਤੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ ਗੂੰਗਾ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ?
With four feet, two horns and a mute mouth, how could you sing the Praises of the Lord?

ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਠੇਗਾ ਪਰਿਹੈ ਤਬ ਕਤ ਮੂਡ ਲੁਕਈਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਉਠਦਿਆਂ ਬੈਠਦਿਆਂ (ਤੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ) ਸੋਟਾ ਪਏਗਾ, ਤਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਥੇ ਸਿਰ ਲੁਕਾਏਂਗਾ? ।੧।
Standing up and sitting down, the stick shall still fall on you, so where will you hide your head? ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੈਲ ਬਿਰਾਨੇ ਹੁਈਹੈ ॥
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਬਲਦ (ਆਦਿਕ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਬਣ ਕੇ) ਪਰ-ਅਧੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ
Without the Lord, you are like a stray ox;

ਫਾਟੇ ਨਾਕਨ ਟੂਟੇ ਕਾਧਨ ਕੋਦਉ ਕੋ ਭੁਸੁ ਖਈਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
(ਨੱਥ ਨਾਲ) ਨੱਕ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਜਾਏਗਾ, ਕੰਨ (ਜੂਲੇ ਨਾਲ) ਫਿੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣਗੇ ਤੇ ਕੋਧਰੇ ਦਾ ਭੋਹ ਖਾਏਂਗਾ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
with your nose torn, and your shoulders injured, you shall have only the straw of coarse grain to eat. ||1||Pause||

ਸਾਰੋ ਦਿਨੁ ਡੋਲਤ ਬਨ ਮਹੀਆ ਅਜਹੁ ਨ ਪੇਟ ਅਘਈਹੈ ॥
ਜੰਗਲ (ਜੂਹ) ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਨ ਭਟਕਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਪੇਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਜੇਗਾ । 
All day long, you shall wander in the forest, and even then, your belly will not be full.

ਜਨ ਭਗਤਨ ਕੋ ਕਹੋ ਨ ਮਾਨੋ ਕੀਓ ਅਪਨੋ ਪਈਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਹੁਣ ਐਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੂੰ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦਾ, (ਉਮਰ ਵਿਹਾ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ) ਆਪਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਪਾਏਂਗਾ ।੨।
You did not follow the advice of the humble devotees, and so you shall obtain the fruits of your actions. ||2||

ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਕਰਤ ਮਹਾ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਬੂਡੋ ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭਰਮਈਹੈ ॥
ਹੁਣ ਭੈੜੇ ਹਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਦਿਨ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਗ਼ਰਕ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈਂ, (ਆਖ਼ਰ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕੇਂਗਾ । 
Enduring pleasure and pain, drowned in the great ocean of doubt, you shall wander in numerous reincarnations.

ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਖੋਇਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਿਸਰਿਓ ਇਹੁ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਕਤ ਪਈਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਗੰਵਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਸਮਾ ਫੇਰ ਕਿਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ ।੩।
You have lost the jewel of human birth by forgetting God; when will you have such an opportunity again? ||3||

ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਤੇਲਕ ਕੇ ਕਪਿ ਜਿਉ ਗਤਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਬਿਹਈਹੈ ॥
ਤੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ-ਰੂਪ ਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਤ ਤੇਲੀ ਦੇ ਬਲਦ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਂਦਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਭਟਕਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਇਗੀ । 
You turn on the wheel of reincarnation, like an ox at the oil-press; the night of your life passes away without salvation.

ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੂੰਡ ਧੁਨੇ ਪਛੁਤਈਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥
ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭੁਲਾ ਕੇ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਸਿਰ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਪਛਤਾਵੇਂਗਾ ।੪।੧।
Says Kabeer, without the Name of the Lord, you shall pound your head, and regret and repent. ||4||1||
