Today [7th May] Belfast-based DJ/producer Jordan Nocturne (FKA Jordan) returns with psychedelic disco dub ‘22BB’. A hedonistic cut that doesn’t take itself too seriously, ‘22BB’ is peppered with vocals that pay tribute to disco icon Donna Summer. Following his coveted Nocturne Edits releases selling in their thousands, plus a string of EP’s on revered labels including Phantasy and Huntleys & Palmers imprint Belters, the return to his own imprint marks the start of a new chapter for Jordan Nocturne, and the blossoming Nocturne platform. 

Speaking on the single Jordan Nocturne says,

“There’s a bit of an early Soulwax influence in this one - it's disco but with a choppy electronic edge. There has always been a big disco presence in my all-night residencies that I've not really highlighted in my own music. But more than that it’s just a fun club track - a reminder not to take everything so seriously. I went as far as getting the sample re-sung - so it’s all fully original.”

Having spent 2020’s lockdown rebranding Nocturne, the label is now a platform for rising and established artists, and a force for good. Teaming up with illustrator Andreea Ilisăi, the label has been raising money for Trussell Trust and Disasters Emergency Fund with two genre-defying From Belfast With Love compilations featuring a wealth of local talent, and through sell-out lines of gorgeous prints, totes and T-shirts. Recently releasing sublime and hypnotic releases from the likes of Brighton’s Tech Support and Philadelphia duo Zillas on Acid, the Nocturne sound has evolved along with Jordan’s.

DJing in clubs since he was just 13 years old, 15 years down the line the producer/DJ/promoter and label head is a seasoned professional; Jordan is both a key player in the Northern Irish and Irish club-spheres and an essential cog in East Belfast’s wider creative community, as well as a celebrated producer and DJ in the global dance music scene. After running his own after-hours party series turned label, Nocturne, and holding down a sell-out, weekly residency across the city under The Night Institute (with scene stalwart Timmy Stewart) for over 5 years, Jordan’s approach to DJing and raving is all about inclusivity and authenticity with egos left at the door.

Pre-pandemic Jordan could be found playing esteemed underground spots and coveted venues across the world from Wilde Renate and Paloma Bar in Berlin, New York’s Good Room, Culture Box in Copenhagen to La Cheetah in Glasgow and Circus, Tokyo to name but a few, and turning in mixes for tastemaker fans including Beats in Space, Truants, Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel, DJ Mag, BBC Radio 6 Music and more. With his life in music lending to an encyclopedic knowledge of music, and productions blending discerning ear for detail and the tacit knowledge that comes from over a decade on the dancefloor, Jordan Nocturne is a force to be reckoned with.

Rouse Music Group launch the counterpart to their management group, Rouse Records, with an outstanding new EP from the legend Roy Davis Jr, “Take You There”, featuring the vocals of J.R. Jordan, with the perfect blend of acid, soul and groove.

The EP features a remix from DJ Spank, one-third of the iconic Phuture group with DJ Pierre & Herb J, known as the founders of Acid House. Rounding out the package is a remix from Chicago's Gene Farris, whose had a banner year with his collaborations with Cajmere and numerous top selling singles.

Rouse Music Group is a booking and management company based in San Francisco representing masters of their craft and specializing in the underground sound, including Wally Callerio (Pancho Warwick), Paul Johnson, Gene Hunt, Whitenoize, Gene Farris, and Cappa Regime.

A rework of a 1978 b-side tune by London's Hi Tension. The original is one of my favourite downtempo boogie tunes, I wanted to to do an updated broken beat remix of this, pushing the tempo up as much as is respectful,  and make an extended edit. I also tried to add some newer production elements, cutting it up in a hip hop sampling style and work in a dub/reggae disco flavor and towards the tail.Hope you like it.
