A few years ago I did a remix of a track by Dominik Eulberg called Sansula, which featured an instrument of the same name. After the release a builder of sansula instruments in the Netherlands was kind enough to give me one as a present in case I wanted to use one again in a live recording, which I have finally got around to doing now with this track!

My process consisted of me sitting in my studio (badly) playing the thumb plucked sansula for quite a while, so that I could go back to the recording and pull out some useable loops as a starting point. I wanted a nice warm analogue chord progression to complement, but more in the high bass and low mids than my usual chord progression that's down really low, to fill the mix with the warmth as much as possible.

The track still needed something though, so I turned to some spare recordings of my favourite vocalist - Kathrin deBoer, from some of our previous recording sessions. I didn't want to go for the usual full lyrical approach of a vocal collab track, I just wanted to add some small snippets of human feeling to round off the track properly.

The release is coming out on Fields on the 1st of December along with an intense synth experiment with a Prophet 08, and beautiful remixes from David August and Throwing Snow.

Origins

Helix / Två Fontäner, like his previous release, Snow Sketch / Visions, is a 17+ minute slow burning exploration of ambience and rhythm.  Taking cues from the likes of Floating Points, Four Tet and Beacon, the tracks melt Tartaglione's specific brand of atmosphere with a well rounded beat.

Like the shape of it's namesake, Helix twists clanging melodic lines around a mess of white noise and a persistent backbeat.  The track eventually evolves to calm with a sidestick, allowing Två Fontäner's energetic intro and droning background to follow.

Helix / Två Fontäner is the first of a number of releases this year for Planète - who looks to solidify his status as one of Australia's most intriguing producers over the coming months.

Came the day when I decided to put the album in the public domain "Not only silence between us", which lay on the shelf for about 2 years. This work for me was as a ground for today's product that I've created and continues to create. In  the album I used some fragments and vocal performance from artists such as: Rashid Bhikha, Ibrahim Maalouf, Ircan Irmak, Keith Jarrett, Frédéric Chopin, Vera Hall, LaShun Pace. 

Special thanks to modern abstract expressionist painter Alexey Kuznetsov for the cover art for the album.

Als @yesoccupanther vor ein paar Jahren das Licht der Welt erblickte, zeigte sich das Soloprojekt von Martin Brugger mit der EP „Chimera“ roh und elektronisch-atmosphärisch. Auf seinen Konzerten elektrisierte der studierte Musiker und Jazzbassist sein Publikum mit gewaltigen Klängen aus seinem rhythmischen Laboratorium. Es folgte die künstlerische Identitätssuche mit den EPs „Mutuals“ (2015) und „Trow“ (2016, zusammen mit dem Pianisten Carlos Cipa). Im Jahr 2017 angekommen, hebt Brugger, der zwischen Solokarriere, seiner Jazzband Fazer und Filmkompositionen balanciert, sein technisches und kreatives Schaffen auf ein neues Level: und zwar mit der EP „Akira / Framed“ und @plateaugreen.
