This month we welcome a very special guest, and someone I’ve had on my radar for quite some time. Born in Santiago, Chile, and spending years living in Hong Kong. Haumea has emerged as a true up and coming artist delivering new sounds of elegant and hypnotic techno as well as ambient soundscapes.

At the core of Haumea’s musical philosophy lies a deep reverence for nature and its intricate rhythms. He believes that the inherent connection between humanity and the natural world can be translated into evocative soundscapes that resonate with listeners on a profound level. By seamlessly blending organic elements with hypnotic rhythms, Haumea crafts immersive sonic narratives that transport audiences to otherworldly realms.

This exclusive mix is other-worldly, hypnotic and immersive on many levels and to top things off contains some unreleased productions which are due for release very soon.

At the famous monthly Sunday gatherings Indigo, a two-hour DJ set was performed, with a mixture of sounds from Indigo techno style blended with hypnotic grooves and some underground classics.

On Thursday the 21st of November 2024, come celebrate the pulsating heritage of Rotterdam’s Reclaim Your City at Saüle. Part of a new event series focussed on styles skirting what is widely embraced as ’techno music’, this first airdrop of the RYC squad promises to be a satisfying moment for all lovers of bold, boundary-pushing electronics. Clad in the austere industrial atmosphere of Berghain’s experimental-oriented subdivision, Saüle, the event gathers voices from distinct geographies and segments of the electronic music scene. From British master and seminal ‘Lost’ nights founder Steve Bicknell, who will blow the winds of dubstep across Saüle’s monster sound system, to Detroit-based deck whiz Erika who will get the heart of the Motown throbbing at the pace of its legendary electro scene, to London jockey and producer Cressida, representing the more alternative confines of the techno-adjacent sonics, from proper UK sound - understand jungle and grime, to techno itself, beware the torrential cascade of roaring machines and sine waves-spoken thunder firing on all cylinders.

Eta Hox - DJ’ka, producentka, promotorka i dziennikarka muzyczna, od ponad dekady
zaangażowana w rozwój polskiej sceny klubowej. Związana z Silent Booking Agency,
Callme Records i Radiem Kraków, w przeszłości współtworzyła kolektywy DJ-skie Techno
Techyes i Deep Impact.
Od samego początku obecności na scenie jej znakiem rozpoznawczym była wyróżniająca
się selekcja, której poświęca bardzo dużo czasu. Każdy DJ-set jest przemyślaną i
konsekwentną historią. Staranne podejście do wyboru muzyki sprawia, że jej mixy są
przesycone drive’m, a przestrzeń pozostaje w odpowiedniej proporcji do wysokich dawek
energii. Eta chętnie sięga po katalogi takich wytwórni jak Affin, Attic Music, Planet Rhythm,
Hypnus Records, Northern Electronics czy Semantica, jednak główną osią jej setów są
wydawnicze nowości, również te poszerzające definicję gatunku techno.
Przygodę z DJ’ingiem rozpoczynała od winylowych sesji sound systemowych oraz
prowadzenia w legendarnej „radiofonii.” audycji na temat dubu i dub-techno. Te surowe i
przestrzenne gatunki cały czas rezonują w jej podejściu do muzyki. Przez wiele lat
współtworzyła także kolektyw Deep Impact, z którym zorganizowała kilkadziesiąt Na
zaproszenie kolektywu przyjechała do Krakowa znakomita większość przedstawicieli polskiej
sceny muzyki klubowej oraz najważniejsi przedstawiciele gatunku dub-techno: Fluxion,
Dadub, Mikkel Metal czy duet Babe Roots, będący objawieniem ostatnich lat. Do 2024 r.
była współtworzyła nieistniejący już kolektyw Techno Techyes - platformę promującej
polskich DJ’ów i producentów. Swoimi setami supportowała takich artystów jak The Bug,
Dasha Rush czy Xhin.
W 2024 roku wydała swój debiutancki numer “E (one single point)” nakładem własnej
wytwórni Callme Records, otwierając tym samym w swojej karierze rozdział producencki.
Razem z Pawłem Pruskim prowadzi niezależną ambientową agencję Silent Booking, która
zajmuje się promowaniem muzyki ambientowej w Polsce. Od 2024 występuje również z
eksperymentalno-ambientowymi live actami.

TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ JUHO KUSTI

Since 2001 Juho's style has stood firmly on deep underground sounds mixed together smoothly with plenty of groove and swing.
Under the Deep Space Helsinki umbrella with Samuli Kemppi, Juho has organised Deep Space Helsinki events with international guests, hosted a radio show by the same name, run a vinyl label, released music for the likes of MindTrip and Semantica, played at international venues like Berghain, Cassette and Raadion and held multiple residencies at Helsinki's venues like Ääniwalli and Kaiku before moving permanently to Berlin in 2016. He continues to promote classy underground techno wherever he plays, be it on the long running Deep Space Helsinki Podcast series, behind the DJ booth or through the carefully selected bookings of guest DJs with Samuli Kemppi for the Deep Space Helsinki events back home in Finland.

Me gustaría dedicar este capítulo a las mujeres que durante el siglo XX experimentaban con osciladores y cintas magnetofónicas, emulando sonidos orgánicos y de la vida cotidiana para crear secuencias, las cuales a día de hoy son consideradas obras de arte, las primeras piezas musicales electrónicas. Más tarde experimentaban con los ya conocidos sintetizadores de MOOG o BUCHLA. Ellas han hecho posible que nosotros hoy podamos sentir cada beat electrónico resonando desde nuestro estómago hasta nuestro cerebro de una manera emocionante. Dieron un gran paso adelante en la historia de la música electrónica y son hoy una eterna leyenda.

A través de este set musical reconecto con este origen, integrándolo en un diálogo y creando así un vínculo entre ellas y nosotros. Tener conciencia de este legado que nos han dejado, de estas mujeres compositoras, científicas, visionarias, pioneras y precursoras de la música electrónica durante el siglo XX y XXI, ha sido un viaje en el tiempo muy interesante para seguir investigando y creando gracias a sus experimentos, arrojo y valentía durante una época en pleno desarrollo tecnológico y también moral. Démosle valor, hagámonos eco de esa comunidad, de esa sinergia que aún hoy persiste y que es tangible gracias a mujeres que, como ellas, siguen siendo y son ejemplos y grandes referentes en el panorama musical de la electrónica.

CURIOSIDADES Y CRONOLOGÍA:

CLARA ROCKMORE (1911-1998): Experta y pionera intérprete del primer instrumento electrónico, el Theremin.
ELSE MARIE PADE (1924-2016): Creaba "imágenes auditivas" a partir de sonidos grabados de la vida cotidiana.
DAPHNE ORAM (1925-2003): Primera mujer en dirigir un estudio de música, fundó el estudio de Efecto de la BBC.
ELIAN RADIGE (1932): Compositora de la famosa melodía de la película "Encuentros en la tercera fase".
PAULINE OLIVEROS (1932-2016): Introduce nuevos conceptos como "escucha profunda" y "conciencia sónica"
DELIA DERBISHIRE (1937-2001): Pionera en el taller Radiofónico de la BBC. Compuso el tema original de "Doctor Who" en 1963.
WENDY CARLOS (1939): Investigó la teoría electroacústica y colaboró en el desarrollo del sintetizador MOOG.
LAURIE SPIEGEL (1945): Desarrolló el software de composición algorítmica MUSIC MOUSE.
(Harmonices Mundi, Johanes Kepler, disco dorado en la astronave VOYAGER en el sector "Sonidos de la Tierra.
SUZANNE CIANI (1946): Trabajó con Buchla durante 10 años soldando sintetizadores. En los años 70 creó su propia empresa de efectos especiales para TV y videojuegos, llegando a pisar la península en escenarios como el del Sónar.
