On this day we mark the 10 year anniversary of the passing of one of the most influential musical geniuses of our time,  the one and only Gil Scott-Heron.  We pulled out some of his musical work and mixed it with some interview snippets from throughout his life. Hope you enjoy the mix.

Jazz and Slow Breaks Mix - Compiled at RISD - June 1995 - Just (re)discovered this old mix-tape my roommates and I created at RISD back in 1995. This was the soundtrack of the time. We'd play on Friday nights before going out, or while drinking 40's and working on our assignments, and sometimes while cleaning the apartment after a night of partying. Get back into this.

Way back in 2001, this featured on my second ever vinyl release, and until 2012 was only available on a long-out-of-print 12".

But, we live in more enlightened times, and, having made it available digitally a few years back, the fine folks at @Jalapeno-Records are now putting it on limited 7" vinyl for those that like their cut 'n' paste disco breaks in an easier to handle package. 
There's a brand new 45-friendly edit of the original on the A-side, backed by the full width of my 'Breaks Of Wrath Re-Edit' from the original EP, where I got a bit sample happy on a hot summer's afternoon back at the turn of the century.
