Gileno Santana is a brazilian trumpet player living in Portugal since 2006. He is lead trumpet at the 'Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos', with which he had the chance to work with many different musicians like: Jim Mcneely, Chris Cheek, Mark Turner, Ohad Talmor, Andy Sheppard, Lee Konitz, Joshua Redman, Maria Schneider, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Maria Rita, Maria João, Mayra Andrade, Steven Bernstein, Darcy James Argue, Guillermo Klein, Julian Arguelles, Florian Ross, Pierre Bertrand and  Michael Mantler. On his own he has also worked with Tony Allen, Amp Fiddler, Munir Hossn, Sara Tavares, James Morrison, Edmar Castaneda, Andy Hunter, Marshall Glikes, Bob Stewart, Thomas Gansch, Gregory Porter and Hermeto Pascoal. 

In the beginning of 2011 he recorded his first album "Inicio" with his quartet feat. Hamilton de Holanda. Gileno Santana has directed workshops at several universities around the world and recently won the international bands competition at the BeJazz festival (Bern/CH) with his 'Egli-Santana Group'.

In 2015 released his second album "Metamorphosis" by Italian label Caligola Records which was very successful in the national and internacional press

Gileno Santana works also as musical arranger and has been playing in several countries like guest solist, his last tour was in Japan.
