Hitting up Tapes #41 we welcome Tel-Aviv-based DJ & Producer Olsvangèr, AKA DJ Headshot! As the founder of Tofistock and the curator of its cross boundaries BAZAAR mix series, Olsvangèr’s agenda is to promote local talents combined with international figures that the label is inspired by and feels connected with. The intention of the label is to expose the local scene to the freshest and the most exciting movements in the field, whilst attracting the international scene to hear the unique developments of the talented artists around Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa. 

His latest track ‘Ghustown’ made some international resonance whilst it was weaponly dropped at Panorama Bar, Dekmantel Festival, and many more, by some of the finest DJ’s. We’re so excited for you to hear this mix; filled with unreleased local music from Tofistock and Olsvangèr’s friends from around the world.

The prolific electronic producer has been on the circuit for more than ten years and has explored a wide musical spectrum: from house to techno and new wave to electro. More recently his productions have taken a more progressive & trancey turn. On "Unknown Pharmacy" the producer is blending some trancey dancefloor weapons (Pharmacom & Muscle Fields) with crazy breaks (Autismo1) and a downtempo track (Underworld) to close the record in a calmer note. For years now, Kashawar has been refining his sound, both as a Dj and as a producer. His latest releases on Partisan are a turning point in Sergej's carreer, where we find him attracted to bleepy techno sounds. Likewise, our man has been heavily digging lately, this podcast showcases an immersion among his unnumerable dancefloor burners.

DJ Dem’s new 12”, called I Videre, translates into I See in English. Continuing the sonic explorations of timbre and rhythm, the three tracks that comprise the new EP are an envisioning mix of the artificial and the natural acoustic environment. Streets, ambulances, laughter, air; hints of Berlin techno intertwined with the cymbals of an acoustic drums set and Berlin itself; synthetic and human voices creating mazy soundscapes. A blend of house tempos, techno’s futuristic take on sound synthesis, ambientesque stillness/movement and musique concrète’s intertemporal idea of montage music. Rather than going for the usual tropes of dance music’s canon, the music on the EP folds and unfolds on an axis of her own, giving DJs a multi-purpose sonic twister.
