An imitation of a dense Vietnamese jungle in one of the Saturn settlements attracts by its refreshing coolness. The areas overgrown with reeds make up the natural boundaries of the dancefloor. A party of the space vibe fans activates the inner metronome. The response of the emotional palette signifies the launch of Gilles Wasserman's multisensory communication. The music of atomic numbers analyses the surrounding space in real-time to form a collective composition in which anyone present can become an artist or the creator of some unusual masterpiece. Dorisburg's healing sound interacts with Claudio PRC's ufological oscillations and harmonic wind improvisations in the remix for Francis Harris.

Following three noteworthy appearances on compilations by On Board Music, Huinali Recordings, and Lost in Translation, New York-based duo Moon Patrol introduces their first long-player, “Mountain House Music.”

Moon Patrol consists of Irina Kotik and Gilles Wasserman, mainly known as co-founders of deep techno and ambient platform Delayed. Irina, a classically trained musician, contributed the melodic parts, and Gilles has been leading the rhythm section of the productions - an excellent symbiosis with meaningful output. A symbiosis whose soundscapes are an ode to the beauty of transitionary states and reflective exploration. “Surface Tension” and “Raflo Ren” grasp the fresh and misty air, with mountains slowly appearing through the morning fog, accompanied by wooden percussive beats. Likewise, the title track, “Mountain House Music” seems to be devoted to the passage from a dreamy, meditative state into an active physical space.
Throughout the ten tracks, we can hear the couple’s harmonious relationship with nature - may it be Prospect Park as their Brooklyn refuge or mountain retreats in upstate NY and Vermont - both spaces and the moods induced by them make an appearance through carefully selected and arranged field recordings (“Inparké” and “Beautiful Brook”). Moon Patrol, though having produced together since 2017 already, took their time to craft their own way of musically syncing and connecting with like-minded artists, such as Dutch producer Love Over Entropy, who took care of mixing the album.

Friends play a significant role in Moon Patrol’s symbiotic ecosystem and that’s why close friend Aspetuck contributed a breezy - grooving remix of “Wevok” - closing the LP with an uplifting, life-affirming note that teases to dance.
“Mountain House Music” was produced in the spring of 2022 while processing a loss in the family. It hence addresses symbiotic relationships and how our interdepence with nature and friends serves both as inspiration and refuge. Though naming their primary inspirations as Boards of Canada, Lord Of The Isles, Ripperton, and Khotin, Moon Patrol found their own very reflective, niche sound in the atmospheric down-tempo realms. A sound that is distinctively organic, immersed in exhilarating exploration, and full of airy breaks.

Head down, music pumping, the night is young and vibrant. Muffled yells fill the air as crescendos abound and whip people into a frenzy of shuffling and dancing. This is nirvana, these are the shared experiences we all know and love. He’d probably dismiss this as overblown but for Map.ache, these moments are all too common, a testament to his incredible ability to tap into emotion, convey energy, and hit that sweet spot of ear-worm like melodies and driving percussion.

With Map.ache in mind, we arrive at today’s very special premiere. One that is near and dear to many around the world, Map.ache’s remix of Gilles Wassermans’ Zona. Seeing the two names together on a release warms the heart, and even more so being on the lovely Oslated. Music is truly an exercise in family as it can’t quite get better than this. 

Building on the broken beats of the original, with wobbly bass lines taking the forefront, Map.ache has flipped Zona on its head and brought it charging back into the 4/4 realm. Bringing alongside a sprinkling of his signature percussion and slight melodic upticks towards the end. Truly a track that will get everyone dancing, head down, enjoying the moment.

The Map.ache remix of Zona will be out on the 28th of July via South Korean imprint Oslated, along with 6 other tracks as Gilles Wassermans’ release, ‘No Time Like The Present’.

It's my personal musical diary, where melancholic melodies of jazz, indie, folk, and downtempo flow like a gentle sigh. A sanctuary from the club's thumping pulse, each song carries a story, an echo of emotion. Some float free, whimsical and light, while others hold the weight of significance. This annual ritual, I suspect, will be my lifelong companion, a soundtrack to the ever-turning seasons of my soul.

When you reach this state, in order for the light to maintain its speed, time would stop as it takes an infinite amount of time for light to reach 300 million meters.

‘Kronosphere’ is trying to define this phenomenon by reproducing the sensation of an outbursting zen state.
This is a frozen moment when everything is resonating in beautiful harmony.
The sounds are creating a sense of being transported through different sublayers of reality, resulting in a sonic voyage into the unknown depths of the psyche.

Five tracks from his beautiful and intimate Binding Elements-album (2023) were pushed in new directions by befriended producers and colleagues such as Moon Patrol, Will Oirson and https://soundcloud.com/leifsounds.

The latter turns Submerge into a melodic minimalist piece which pays homage to both Susumo Yokota and Steve Reich. Swiss-born producer https://soundcloud.com/benkaczor goes 4x4 on Irregular, pushing the dreamy original towards Giegling territory in a good and meditative way.

091 - Unrushed by Moon Patrol

Our twice-a-year trips to upstate New York are something we truly cherish. There’s a special magic in that barn, I swear. This time, we had friends representing 11 nationalities, each bringing their unique backgrounds and stories. Yet there we were, gathered in the heart of the Catskill Mountains, sharing laughter, tears, good food, and incredible music.
Every trip has its own character, and this one was no different. I’m thrilled to share the recording of my Saturday night set, which followed Kim Kenis’s phenomenal 4-hour journey. It felt like a natural progression to start with some deep, dubby tracks and gradually build the tension. I’m really happy with how the mix turned out, and I hope it resonates with you, too. Finishing the set brought such a feeling of joy. One I know I’ll hold onto for a long time.
Here’s to more music, memories, and the connections that make it all worthwhile.

The recording of my debut at Good Room, club that has been closest to my heart in past few years. 
I love playing opening sets, it allows me to play music that I personally like the most, warm, very deep and multi-layered, melancholic, in moments a bit weird but just enough to keep people that are arriving wondering what's next.

Out Of Focus

I made this mix a few weeks ago for my dear friends in Singapore, Blackout Agency, and their fundraising stream that turned out to be quite successful. After two days and 16h of music by local and international DJs, Blackout Agency raised around $15K for The Food Bank Of Singapore. I'm happy I was part of this wonderful initiative.
