Whether performing Celtic-fusion with her full band in front of thousands, as a vibrant acoustic duo with her guitarist, or solo in a kitchen of her native Inverness County playing the tunes of her ancestors, Gillian never ceases to inspire with the dynamic expression of her music. On stage or in the classroom, Gillian is most comfortable with violin in hand and has been since the age of 10. An avid explorer, she has most recently called Turkey home, exploring the flavours of the culture, food and music of this East-meets-West country, and has migrated back to Canada this past July.

Recipient of the Nova Scotia Music Week Award in 2009 for Roots Traditional Recording of the Year and a 2010 East Coast Music Award Nomination in the same category, Gillian spent most of her youth accompanying some of the finest bands and singer-songwriters from folk circuits in both Canada and New Zealand.  Her solo career began to soar with the debut of her highly acclaimed album, Elemental, in 2008, making her own individual stamp in the world of Celtic music.
