In the scene where Midge looks at Penny, I felt like her husband might cheat with her. But I agree, him leaving felt a little too abrupt and not set up enough. Maybe they could have had more of an argument about his stolen jokes.

I've decided to listen to this as I have literally just finished watching the pilot as I was really curious as to what you guys thought of it. I'm shocked as to how much I LOVED this pilot! It feels like ASP - all grown up! As a writer, I feel like ASP has been waiting her whole career for the online networks such as Amazon and Netflix.

I get how that felt sudden. But actually its probably very true of marriages of this era. So long as everything looked okay, it was okay. Often, men and women played their roles but lived fairly sperate lives.

Emma Watson's singing bothered me so much I couldn't finish the movie. Not only was her singing completely abysmal compared to her co-stars, I also believe that casting someone who can't sing as a lead in a musical is a thousand times worse than, for instance, pretending an actor can play the piano and cutting off their hands and closing up on someone else's hands (something you gilmore guys have also expressed a disdain for before).
