Hypnotic Black Magic at Otsukimi Festival (29.09.23.) in Hakuba, Japan

Really excited to share with you the recording of my set at Otsukimi Festival 2023. It was such a pleasure to explore a more downtempo, but also high energy side of the sound that drives me, with some breaky and ritualistic vibes - hope you'll enjoy!

Again, huge thanks to the Otsukimi Team for all their work! It was such a magical moment to enjoy a top level festival, super well-organised with very good and interesting music, beautiful visuals and amazing people.

It was such an honour to play on the first night under the full moon in the middle of this wonderful Japanese Alps forest. Thank you again for having me and see you very soon again 🙏🏵️

HBM at Otsukimi Festival 2023

It is with great pleasure to feature talented emerging artist Aerae for our 24th Herbarium episode. She convinces us with the great energy that her productions and mixes radiate. Trippy, tribal characteristics combined with experimental soundscapes is what we grasp from her output.

Aerae chose the plant Calea zacatechichi as inspiration for her mix.
It is a shrub found throughout Central America, especially in the highlands of Mexico. Indigenous people prepare a ritual infusion with its leaves, which resemble nettle leaves. After drinking it, one lies down and experiences the ensuing dreams which are believed to provide insights into healing current ailments.

Some words about her thoughts behind the mix : 
I have therefore imagined an entire journey of what this plant provides when consumed. From the very first seconds to the last. Passing through different states, different sensations, and encounters. Datura Stramonium is a psychoactive deliriant traditionally used in folk medicine and occult ritual. The drug induces a state of total confusion and disassociation, with users reporting not knowing where they are for days at a time. Join me on this long strange trip.

About Aerae

Under her former alias, she had the privilege of performing at various renowned festivals and clubs in France, such as I LOVE TECHNO (Montpellier, FR), Les Plages Electroniques (Cannes, FR), REF (Nice, FR), Kwartz Club (Nice, FR), Le Spot (Rouen, FR), and ADE (Amsterdam, NL). She has shared the stage with artists like Marcel Dettmann, Justine Perry, Ben Klock, François X, to name a few.
Her debut LP 'Percussive Reverie' released on Annulled Music, marks a turn in her production skills, which gained international support by artists like Claudio PRC, Spekki Webu, Evigt Mörker, Eric Cloutier, Laura BCR, Refracted and many more. It was selected as ‘Best Album of the year" on the popular German magazine GROOVE alongside prestigious artist like Donato Dozzy.

Piante Vive is a collaborative project that came to life in late 2023, the result of two friends and producers who began making electronic music together, heavily influenced by Milan’s techno scene and their contrasting yet complementary backgrounds.

On one side, @Biocym brings a foundation in deep techno, characterized by hypnotic grooves and rhythmic depth. On the other, Succo hails from the Italian trap and hip-hop scene, focusing on melodic structures and atmospheric, ambient elements. This blend of influences led them to produce tracks that pull from various musical genres, creating a rich and layered sound.

Piante Vive represents the fusion of both artists’ distinct artistic sensibilities while allowing them to dive deeper into their shared musical expression. Their sound, reflected in this nearly two-hour recording, showcases organic, deep, and profound techno that encapsulates their evolving vision and collaboration.

Every now and then we accidentally encounter musical masters we've never heard of, people who've been in the game, parallell to ours, for years or even decades, without bringing us to attention. And then one day stars just align: right time, right place, a great soundsystem, good people and a good amount of acidic buzz. Such was the moment when we first encountered Obri, a Georgian DJ who had us hypnotized from start to end with flawless selctions and mixing skills up in the Carpathian mountain range in 2023.

With releases on Boshke Beats, Horns & Hoofs and Dragonfly Records, and recent DJ appearances at Berlin institutions HÖR and Sisyphos, Obri has crafted his own, unique take on authentic and timeless lysergic Techno.

In the golden glow of the endless day,  
Where time stretches in a lazy sway,

In a season that promises to never end.  

The gentle breeze whispers through the trees,  
Carrying laughter on its playful breeze,  
Children splashing in crystal streams,

Fields of green forever in bloom,  
Nature's canvas, a grand, vibrant room,  
Where flowers paint a riotous scene,  
In hues of pink, yellow, and serene green.  

The ocean waves kiss the sandy shore,  
A rhythmic lullaby, forevermore,  
Shells and treasures they leave behind,  
Gifts from the sea, memories to find.  

Evening descends with a soft embrace,  
Stars twinkle in the sky's vast space,  
Yet the warmth lingers, a sweet refrain,

Here in this realm of eternal sun,  
Where joy and freedom are never done,  
We bask in moments, forever bright,  
In the never-ending summer's light.  

So let us cherish these endless days,
