Last year saw the release of 3 Feet Deep Records second instalment: four tracks from four artists. A year later those four original cuts get the remix treatment – but it remains a 'family thing'. While ZeroFG chose a deeper approach for his Heavy Rain track, Takjacob reworked Ollie Rant's take Tonysbox. Lastly Main Phase and Pépé Elle remix each other's tracks Alright Then respectively We Ain't Taking Orders. The latter is playful deep UKG take with, of course, break-ish elements and a synth-hook-line that is as intriguing as a Biggie track from the 90s combined with some R&B magic and a lush bass line with bleepy elements anf finished with spheric pad-sequences. In other words: Main Phase created one of these club tracks that stick with you for a long time!

As huge fans of Ollie Rant's experimental UKG productions and the genre-defying GLBDOM, GAB is honoured to support the Russian label's most recent VA. Featuring 15 tracks from some of the freshest names in the contemporary UKG scene, Spezial Series Vol 2 will be released on November 12th both digitally and on cassette. Off the back of his recent collaborative release on Dansu Discs alongside Lavonz, Perception and Ell Murphy, Ollie turns towards the leftfield end of the UKG spectrum on 'One Step.' Ollie's exquisite blending of 2step beats, breaks, outrageous basslines and charismatic synth melodies leaves us speechless once again.

Here's a word about the compilation from GLBDOM:

"From the depths of the apartment, swirling, downed, fussy drums are heard. An arabesque of loud vocal samples playfully jumps over the hummocks of a funky beat, making its way through a string of distorted, sometimes convulsive rhythm.

Someone is rushing around the room, putting on shiny leggings in front of the mirror and setting off the eyelids with the color of Jacko's last breath, and someone, blurring in a euphoric smile, can't get up from the chair an hour before the party.

The sounds of vicious, garage pleasure can continuously replace each other in different guises: charismatic bass incarnation, the dominance of sharp and lumpy dubstep bottoms, ripe synthesizer loops, irrational 2-step patterns and even compliant jungle drops with ragga tunes.

Each element is equivalent, so anything can get into your head. This music, which has rightfully become an integral part of British culture, grew up together with its listeners, who did not have time to blink an eye, as they got families, replacing bright parties with lamp gatherings at the home sound system.

This is not about deconstructing the style, but about its modern reincarnation and an attempt to add more soul to the second various within the framework of the Spezial Series from GLBDOM.
