This is my first ever remix done with stems. I didn't want to lose the feel of the original, so I sought to minimize certain aspects by omitting some samples entirely.

I constructed the vocals similar to the original arrangement, opting to lead in with the piano and a chant sample taken from the Fills sample provided. Lead VOX were sliced to provide freedom in arrangement. BGVS were also sliced in the same manner.

My cerebral palsy had a real difficult time with the layers of perc elements,, so I opted to use the full Kick, Snare, Top Loop, and Drum Parallel samples wholly on top of the basic FotF kick I laid down. Claps could have been improved but I forgot about them after I noticed a problem area I couldn't quite fix, which would be the seeming time slip about halfway through. The bass comes in on beat, but the synth later I staggered back about a quarter-beat because I liked how the call/response rhythm sounded, taking me back to the early days of techno and trance.

I'm still learning my EQ techniques, and with disability-related vision and hearing loss, let's just say that I could have done a lot worse within such a short timeframe.

Ayokay - Thousand Nights (feat. Forester) [GiMpStEr626 Remix]

The remix of Mr. Black's All My Life by GiMpStEr626 pays homage to the original arrangement by retaining almost everything included in the sample tracks, yet charts its own course immediately out of the gate.

You are transported back in time with an amalgamation of gritty, dirty saw synths - both sustained and arpeggiated, murdered-out bells, orchestral strings, and tubas. Breakbeat drums, 808 kicks and sub-bass round out the late 1990's/early 2000's trance feel, adding in a more-modern texture to what ends up being an extremely driven epic ballad of electronic music.

Starting heavy, the track draws on the energy of a performer on a really important night. Fast-paced and energetic for 120 beats per minute, just as a performer's evening would be - all pure energy, pouring everything into their performance. Only does it finally subside at the end, the performer can finally relax and no longer worry about impressing the crowd or their management.
